Contributing Writer (in Spanish)
We’re a new kind of language app built on a simple belief: fluency comes from culture, not just vocab and grammar. We publish daily word puzzles and cultural stories to help learners connect with real-world Spanish, and actually stay conversation-ready.
The role
Shine a light on Latine culture across the United States. We’re looking for writers who can spot the places, people, and moments where Spanish lives in the United States and turn them into vivid, accessible stories (“Sparks”) for intermediate learners. These short in-app pieces help learners expand their vocabulary while seeing the world through a cultural lens.
What you will do
- Pitch Sparks to the Editor in Chief and Managing Editor with a one‑paragraph summary, 2–3 sources, and a clear “why now”
- Surface microcultures and trends in the US across travel, food, music, film, local traditions, and news
- Explain the impact of Latine communities on society. Cover struggles and successes with clarity and care
- Write in Spanish for intermediate learners (clear voice, short sentences, occasional glosses)
- Verify context and terms with careful fact‑checking
- File clean ~400‑word drafts on time and turn edits around quickly
Who you are
- Based in the U.S. and deeply familiar with Latine life in your region and beyond
- Native or near‑native Spanish, with strong English too
- Writer or reporter with clips on culture, trends, or community
- Sharp storyteller with strong research and pitch instincts
- Clear communicator who can work on deadline with quick turnarounds
How we work
- Freelance contributor with recurring assignments
- Remote within the United States
- Clear briefs. Fast feedback. On‑time delivery
- All stories written in Spanish
Why it matters
Culture is how language lives. Your stories will help learners understand Spanish in the United States. They will see the people behind the words and feel part of the community
