Content Writer (contract) at Microsoft – $42 – $48 per hour

You will be responsible for authoring the prompts, grounding documents, and linguistic frameworks that enable AI models to produce high-quality, contextually appropriate content for diverse audiences and use cases.

This is not a traditional marketing copywriting role; instead, you will architect language systems that teach AI how to write, evaluate model outputs for quality and reliability, and establish the standards that ensure every generated piece of content meets professional standards.

Collaborating with cross-functional teams of designers, product managers, and AI specialists, you will directly influence how enterprise customers experience AI-assisted content creation, making complex technology accessible and ensuring that generated content reflects inclusivity, accuracy, and brand alignment across countless real-world scenarios.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Author high-quality prompts, grounding documents, and linguistic frameworks that guide AI models to produce accurate, inclusive, and contextually appropriate content
  • Review and modify existing presentation copy to ensure alignment with intended purpose, visual design, format requirements, and brand standards
  • Conduct iterative editing passes on both human-authored and AI-generated content using internal evaluation tools and workflows
  • Collaborate with designers, product managers, and content professionals to build consistent and scalable content systems
  • Ensure all authored content reflects principles of inclusivity, accessibility, and serves diverse customer needs across industries and skill levels
  • Analyze performance data, user feedback, and model evaluation metrics to continuously refine instructional patterns and improve content quality
  • Establish linguistic guardrails and copy strategies that drive reliable AI model behavior across varied use cases
  • Define patterns and standards for AI-generated creative works including templates, presentations, and short-form content
  • Translate language to match specific presentation purposes, styles, formats, and brand requirements
  • Meet aggressive deadlines while maintaining quality standards and operational discipline at scale

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience crafting creative content for enterprise audiences
  • 1 to 2 years of hands-on experience with AI-generated prompts and AI language outputs
  • Demonstrated experience working with AI generation models and associated workflows
  • Proven track record collaborating directly with multidisciplinary teams including designers, product managers, and content professionals
  • Portfolio showcasing strong writing craft and deep understanding of brand voice development
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite with particular expertise in PowerPoint
  • Portfolio demonstrating exceptional writing craft and brand voice expertise
  • Exceptional writing abilities with clarity, conciseness, and proficiency in structuring content for AI consumption
  • Deep customer empathy and understanding of diverse user needs across industries and skill levels
  • Fluency in authoring prompts, grounding materials, and instruction patterns for generative AI systems
  • Expertise in evaluating and improving AI-generated language outputs for quality and reliability
  • Strong understanding of design principles and the interaction between text and visual systems
  • Research and analytical capabilities with comfort interpreting data and model evaluation signals
  • Ability to review and adapt language for different presentation contexts, purposes, and brand voices
  • Growth mindset with curiosity about emerging AI capabilities and willingness to adapt quickly
  • Operational discipline combined with creative problem-solving abilities

Additional Details:

  • Location: Remote
  • Duration: 2 months
  • Pay Range*: $42 – $48 per hour
  • Weekly Schedule: 40 hours
  • Job Status: Non-Exempt
