Content Writer (Contract) at Microsoft – $42 – 48 per hour
Please note that this is a contract role providing services to Microsoft through external staffing partners of Allegis Global Solutions. If you are selected for this role, you will be employed by AGS and will not be an employee of Microsoft.
Summary:
The main function of a Content Writer is to write technical materials, such as equipment materials, appendices, or operating and maintenance instructions. A typical technical writer is responsible for organizing, editing and maintaining technical records and files.
Job Responsibilities:
- Organize material and complete writing assignment according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style and terminology
- Maintain records and files of work and revisions
- Confer with client to establish technical specifications and to determine subject material to be developed for publication
- Create communication and readiness material that supports key projects in the Microsoft Digital organization
- Write content that is clear, concise, and requires minimal editing
- Utilize AI to be productive and creative
- Analyze complex technology processes and information; ask key questions of partners and stakeholders to gain a thorough understanding of these processes
- Manage content deliverables (i.e., web content, blogs, emails, social content, and promotional materials for internal marketing channels) from start to finish, including:
- Review information provided by stakeholders; analyze for information gaps and contact stakeholders as needed
- Outline and draft content based on existing templates
- Send content to stakeholders for review; make edits as needed
- Publish web pages in SharePoint
- Send email and Teams chat communications using our mass communication tools
- Run promotions in our various internal channels, including SharePoint sites, Viva Engage, direct emails, etc.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field such as computer science or english, journalism, communications
- 8-10 years experience required
- Experience in in creating documentation for a technical audience
- Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills
- Ability to read some programming code
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Ability to take complex (often incomplete) information from stakeholders and transform it into clear, easy-to-consume user guidance
- Self-manage workload and priorities and provide updates on progress
- Comfortable using Microsoft 365 products (i.e., Copilot, Teams, Viva Engage, SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Attend key meetings with End User Engagement Experiences team and stakeholders as needed
- Comfortable working in a fast-moving, quickly evolving environment
- Ability to focus on the “big picture” while also having a sharp eye for detail
- Comfortable “owning” deliverables and making decisions on content
