Book Publishing / Marketing Assistant – $50k-$55k/year
Hackett Publishing is seeking a creative Marketing Assistant with 1-3 years of marketing experience, ideally in book publishing. The Marketing Assistant reports to the Marketing Director and will work with the Director to promote 10-15 new releases each year, as well as backlist promotion of older titles in the Hackett catalog.
Key responsibilities include:
Managing Hackett’s digital marketing program, including developing email marketing campaigns, paid and organic social media posts, and Amazon advertising campaigns. Experience working with a marketing CRM platform, Amazon marketing tools, Firebrand Technologies’ Title Management software, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Canva is a plus.
Managing the company’s social media accounts, including Twitter/X, Instagram, BlueSky and Facebook, and posting regularly.
Employ marketing analytics techniques to gather important data (social media, website analytics, rankings, etc.) and develop reports to analyze the effectiveness of marketing campaigns.
Managing Hackett’s academic convention schedule. This deadline-focused responsibility includes registering for conference exhibitor space, creating marketing materials, and coordinating the exhibit booth details and supply shipments for 4-8 conferences per year.
Assisting with administrative tasks and market research, including working on title metadata for distribution to trading partners like Amazon, working with Hackett’s overseas distributors to supply new title data, working with course instructors to provide digital review copies, and exploring new book review and author promotional opportunities, like Podcast appearances.
Requirements:
A Bachelor’s Degree.
The position is 100% remote; however, candidates must reside in Massachusetts, Indiana, Illinois, or Vermont.
A minimum of one year of marketing work experience, preferably in academic book publishing.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work well in a small team while also being self-motivated and comfortable working independently to meet deadlines and prioritize projects.
Attention to detail, a keen eye for graphic design, and the ability to create engaging digital and print marketing materials to advertise Hackett books. Sharing samples of previous work when applying is encouraged.
Proficiency in the MS Office Suite and general computer skills.
