ASL Writer for High School Courses
Are you a dynamic American Sign Language educator with a passion for teaching this language?
We are searching for a Subject Matter Expert with recent ASL teaching experience for a contract role writing resources that will be used in high school classrooms. This contract position begins in November.
eDynamic is the largest publisher of educational resources for elective courseware for high school students in North America. Share your knowledge through resources used by students in face-to-face, hybrid, and virtual schools. While our resources support all educational environments, they never replace teachers.
The ideal candidate teaches ASL in high school, or at a college or community college, and can write to provide high school students with a solid foundation in the language. The candidate should have a vision of how students can learn the language through courseware.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Strong skills in teaching receptive and expressive ASL, with an understanding of Deaf culture
- Fluent in ASL and proficient in written English
- Ability to disseminate language knowledge in writing
- Vision for sign language videos and ability to create video scripts
- Can teach and/or assess state curriculum and ACTFL standards effectively
- Role-play and activity development expertise
- Post-secondary ASL degree
- Deadline-driven
- Receptiveness to constructive feedback and commitment to improvement
- Can work remotely as part of a larger team
- Open to using various applications – MS Word, Dropbox, Smartsheet, Slack
For the chosen candidate, this freelance role could consume more than 8 hours/week over the next 6 months and will be completed in 2026. This resource’s chapters may be up to 5000 words (with 6 chapters). As part of the hiring process, potential candidates may be invited to participate in a paid audition to demonstrate their writing skills.
