True Crime Script Writer for YouTube

2. A documentary-style approach blended into true crime
In my opinion, documentary writing is more descriptive of scenes rather than purely narrative. This matters most in the hook: instead of recounting it as something that already happened, I want it written as an event unfolding in real time (present tense, scene-driven).
Example:
Charles Ramsey unlocks his front door on Seymour Avenue after a long, exhausting shift at a local restaurant. He tosses his keys on the counter, heads straight for the kitchen, and grabs some leftovers from the fridge. He steps back outside and sits down on his front porch. It’s a warm, quiet spring evening, the kind of night where you just want to eat in peace and watch the cars roll by.
He glances at the house next door. The man who lives there is a former school bus driver. He keeps to himself and doesn’t bother anyone. Just a normal, quiet neighbor.
