Sr Copywriter (Non-Profit Clients) – $80,000 – $90,000 a year
As a Senior Copywriter at TrueSense Marketing, you’re deeply knowledgeable about direct response, with a mastery of skill spanning everything from audience to messaging to offers. You’re curious, innovative, and creative. You understand the specific discipline of fundraising writing, and you have a portfolio of work to back that up. You’ll become familiar with your assigned clients and their work, moving multi-channel projects through from analysis to ideation to completion. You’ll work in a team-based environment and regularly produce new, fresh direct response copy for high-profile clients. You understand, and continually work to understand, what motivates donors to give. You intuitively know how to frame your writing to get results.
Essential Functions:
- Experience writing in a variety fundraising media. Should be conversant in all or most of these media: direct mail, email, web, social, radio, DRTV, print advertising, and catalog.
- Works collaboratively with designers, creative directors, client services, and other team members to create the best possible work.
- Can generate ideas, innovate appropriately, and work within the boundaries of the medium at hand.
- Ability to gather resource by interviewing subjects in person or over the phone or by researching online. Can quickly become an expert in our clients’ causes.
- Understands response metrics and can infer how those metrics inform how copy should be written for maximum impact.
- Demonstrates thought leadership in the industry through publications and/or presentations.
- Researches top fundraising trends to keep work fresh and timely.
- Mentors less experienced copywriters and leads by example.
- Steps in to help produce new writing on all client work as needed.
- Follows established processes to keep jobs moving according to timelines and milestones.
- Conversant in print production capabilities and standard industry direct mail specifications.
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree a plus.
- 10+ years of experience in professional direct response writing at an agency, in-house agency, commercial agency, or equivalent required.
- Strong computer skills including all Microsoft products (Outlook; Excel; Word; PowerPoint), Adobe In Design and Acrobat a must
