About Finally Get Your Book Done:
Finally Get Your Book Done (FGYBD) helps clients—primarily women—turn their life stories and ideas into a finished book using our signature method: the client talks, and you write. All writing happens live. You need to be able to write in real time, as the client is speaking. Many of our clients share deeply personal stories related to identity, family, motherhood, career, faith, trauma, healing, and personal transformation.
Role Summary – Writer & Book Coach:
As a Writer & Book Coach, you’ll lead live 1:1 Zoom writing sessions with clients (typically 60–90 minutes). During the session, the client speaks and you actively shape their story on the spot—asking smart questions, structuring the narrative, and writing as they talk.
We primarily serve women. This role requires strong emotional intelligence, careful listening, and the ability to hold space for people’s stories without judgment while keeping the writing focused, grounded, and forward-moving. You need to be able to match the client’s tone and intent, bringing their story to life in their voice. You must be a strong writer and able to think quickly on your feet — transcribing, summarizing, and directing a client’s thoughts. You must be able to interject and interrupt the client to keep them on track.
This is a fully remote, part-time independent contractor position for a few hours each week (usually 3-5 hours per week, but it varies by writer). Rate is $50-$60 per hour. Flexible scheduling. Must be based in the U.S. Master’s Degree required.
This is not an A.I. service. The vast majority of writing happens live. We emphasize a personal, human touch to bring these stories to life. You must be a talented writer able to think quickly and synthesize information tactfully. For the right candidate, this is incredibly rewarding work. Ideal candidates will be responsible and mission-driven. Experience in memoir writing, book coaching, ghostwriting or Teach for America are all a plus.

What You’ll Do
- Run live writing sessions on Zoom using the FGYBD method (you interview; you write in real time).
- Capture the client’s voice with authenticity—warm, human, readable prose that sounds like them.
- Guide story structure in the moment: timelines, scenes, chapters, themes, and emotional beats.
- Ask strong follow-up questions that help women articulate experiences they may never have put into words before.
- Draft and lightly revise session output for readability, continuity, and flow (not heavy developmental editing).
- Communicate professionally with the FGYBD team regarding sessions, progress, and client needs.
