Contract Writer (Finance, Legal, & Business Ghostwriting) – $14/hr
We’re seeking an experienced contract writer with a strong grasp of finance, business operations, legal concepts, and M&A-adjacent terminology—and the ability to translate complex topics into clear, accessible content for a broad business audience.
This is potentially a long-term subcontractor (1099) position, not a short-term gig. You’ll act as an extension of our agency team, collaborating with subject-matter experts (SMEs) from two professional service brands operating in the business acquisition, exit planning, and financial advisory space. Company names are not included publicly.
About the Work
This engagement includes two primary phases:
Phase 1 – Website Copy (Late Winter / Early Spring)
Develop copy for ~20 total website pages (10 per brand), supported by:
- Detailed content briefs (we will provide)
- Persona documentation (we will provide)
- Messaging and tone guidelines (we will provide)
- Content strategy frameworks (we will provide)
Content will be ghostwritten in each brand’s voice and informed by SME interviews as needed.
Phase 2 – Long-Form & Editorial Content (Spring → Fall)
Ongoing work includes:
- 36 total blog posts (18 per brand)
- Two long-form gated guides (one per brand)
Content must be:
- Fully human-written
- Based on structured SME interviews
- Supported—not replaced—by AI tools where helpful
SEO Expectations (Provided Training + Required Application)
Applicants should have:
- A foundational understanding of SEO and how it naturally influences article structure, headlines, subheadings, and keyword placement
- A demonstrated willingness to learn and apply our SEO best practices
We will guide the writer through our frameworks, but they must be able to follow and implement them consistently.
How You’ll Work
You should be comfortable with:
- Interviewing SMEs and extracting insights from finance, legal, and business-oriented conversations (during 8-4 pm EST)
- Using AI transcription tools to capture details accurately
- Shaping complex concepts into clear, authoritative, readable content
- Adapting your writing style to match brand voices
- Proactively scheduling interviews with busy executives
- Delivering polished drafts and managing revisions professionally
Our agency handles strategy, direction, content planning, and client communication—providing the writer with structure and support.
Who We’re Looking For
Must-Haves
- U.S.-based writer with English as your primary language.
- Proven experience writing about finance, business strategy, legal topics, M&A, or advisory services
- Ability to simplify complex ideas without losing accuracy
- Strong ghostwriting skills
- Excellent interviewing and story-mining abilities
- Interest in long-term, steady contract work
- Comfort operating as a 1099 subcontractor
- Willingness to implement SEO best practices
