Copywriter at Kanahoma – $60,000 – $70,000/year
Kanahoma, a San Diego-based boutique education marketing agency, is seeking a Copywriter to join our small but fast-growing creative team. Founded in 2020 by education marketer Seth Odell, Kanahoma has grown rapidly and now partners with leading colleges and universities across the country. We’re looking for a copywriter with a performance mindset and strong strategic instincts — someone ready to help us build creative that drives real results.
As the Copywriter, you’ll write across a range of deliverables — including paid social, paid search, landing pages, websites, OOH, and direct mail — and contribute to messaging development for brand and campaign work. You’ll play a key role in shaping high-performing creative, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and pushing ideas forward.
The ideal candidate has agency experience, a portfolio of performance-focused work, and a proven ability to write copy that moves people and meets business goals. Experience in the education sector is a strong plus.
The Copywriter will be responsible for:
- Writing high-impact copy for performance marketing channels (paid social, paid search, landing pages, etc.)
- Supporting messaging development across campaigns and brands
- Translating briefs into strategic messaging frameworks and narratives
- Presenting copy and rationale clearly to internal teams and clients
- Proofreading all copy for consistency, accuracy, and voice
- Partnering with designers, video editors, and strategists to execute cohesive creative
- Staying current on trends, best practices, and emerging tools
- Managing multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Qualifications include:
- 3+ years of professional copywriting experience, with a strong focus on performance marketing
- Agency experience and ability to juggle multiple brands and projects simultaneously
- Expertise in writing for digital and traditional media (e.g., paid media, video, web, print, OOH)
- Proven ability to craft copy that meets strategic and performance goals
- Expert-level proofreading and command of AP Style
- Proficiency in Google Workspace, Asana, Figma, and AI tools like ChatGPT
- Portfolio showcasing performance-driven creative and team collaboration
- Experience in the education industry is a plus
The Specifics
- Salary: $60,000 – $70,000 (based on experience)
- Remote: Position is a fully remote WFH position
- Location: Candidate can be located anywhere in the United States.
