About this position:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Junior Technical Editor/Writer to support the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) in developing clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation. The ideal candidate will assist in creating technical manuals, policy documents, reports, and procedural guides to support HUD’s programs and initiatives.
Salary Range: 42k- 48k – commensurate with candidate’s skills, experience, location, and qualifications.
On a day-to-day basis you will:
- Deliver high quality written products to our customers
- Format and tech edit documents according to established style guides
- Assist in branding and marketing
- Contribute to problem-solving for projects and clients
- Perform low to medium analysis
- Develop functional and consulting skills
- Collaborate with team members and project manager
- Assist peers in other groups as needed/directed
Required Education/Qualifications:
- Applicants must be U.S. citizens and must be able to possess and maintain a government clearance as required
- Writing samples will be requested prior to interview and an editing test will be given during the interview
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Must be meticulous and detail-oriented
- Self-managing and can work as a team player
- Must be able to work with little supervision
- Have a willingness to learn/utilize new technologies and processes
- Have proficiency in Microsoft 365, including SharePoint
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, or a related field and 0-2 years of experience OR High School Diploma with 2-4 years of experience
- Technical Writing certification(s)
