Technical Writer, Jr.
Currently hiring a Junior Technical Writer to support the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Health Technology Management Services (HTMS) Contract. The Technical Writer will be responsible for assisting in the development of multiple artifacts, the quality assurance of various artifacts/documents provided to key VA Medical Center (VAMC) personnel through the course of their Electronic Health Record Transition. This position is fully remote within the United States with core hours of operation from Monday to Friday 8 am to 5 pm ET.
Essential Functions:
- Assists in creating and maintaining documents/artifacts for a variety of audiences, including executive VA leadership.
- Revise and proofread technical documentation and team communications/artifacts as requested.
- Identify and correct grammatical and punctuation errors, faulty sentence construction, ambiguous or conflicting statements/information, formatting, and consistency issues with both styles/fonts and content.
- Acquires subject knowledge through active participation in daily team support and standard team activities.
- Reviews technical documentation for quality of content and formatting.
- Ability to draft accurate, succinct meeting minutes, often with short turnaround times
- Support continuous improvement by reviewing and refining existing artifacts that are shared directly to key VAMC personnel during each site Electronic Health Record transition.
- Provide final quality control check of documents to identify and remediate issues prior to distribution to the VA client
Required Experience:
- Bachelors Degree in engineering, or scientific discipline. Plus 1-2 years of relevant VA experience or 8 years of relevant experience may be substituted for education
- Ability to analyze, validate, specify, and verify document or artifact requirements defined by project leads to include customers and end users. Position will report to a Project Leads.
- Apply editorial styles and standards consistently and appropriately across documentation.
- Deliver high quality documentation with exceptional attention to detail.
- Identify opportunities to create visually appealing, effective graphics in drafted content.
- Participate in final production processes, including desktop publishing, quality control, and white glove reviews.
- Research and verify acronym definitions and generate glossaries.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
