Writing Services Coordinator – Estimated: $39.7K – $48.8K a year
The Writing Center Services Coordinator supervises tutors and deploys Ally Center writing programs, workshops, and activities directed at student learning success.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Oversees the daily workflow of the Writing Center and the supporting tutors.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Education and Experience:
- A bachelor’s degree is required.
- A minimum 3 years of teaching writing and/or tutoring writing is preferred.
- Experience utilizing course management systems to develop learning resources.

- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Oversee Writing Services.
- Track student usage and visits.
- Recommend for hire, train, supervise, and evaluate writing mentors.
- Provide oversight to mentors to improve our personalized mentorship.
- Develop and maintain effective writing resources across the Ally Center platforms.
- Collaborate within the Ally Center to provide innovative academic services, resources, and accessibility as part of the Ally Center team.
- Participate in Ally Center department meetings.
- Participate/oversee Ally Center events.
- Represent the Ally Center in campus events.
- Connect with various departments and faculty as part of a connected culture of the Ally Center.
- Collaborate with faculty regarding in-class visits, lectures, and required visits.
- Set up writing groups and/or boot camps as needed to support students.
- Coordinate professional development opportunities for faculty in conjunction with MFSS.
- Tutor students on an as-needed basis.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
