Eat This, Not That! is currently looking for experienced freelance writers to contribute to the Groceries & Restaurants beats. This includes conducting and writing taste tests and producing well-researched listicles about grocery products, fast-food restaurants, and menus.

HERE’S EXACTLY WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  • You are an experienced food or lifestyle writer with a portfolio that can prove it. Ideally, you have at least 2 years of experience writing about similar topics for reputable digital publications.
  • You have a passion for and a vast knowledge of food. You can quickly form an opinion or speak authoritatively and authentically about the latest burger from Wendy’s or McFlurry from McDonald’s, just as well as the top 10 cheeses from Costco’s cheese section. You have a curious mind and taste buds and you aren’t afraid to honestly assess products that major food companies are serving us.
  • You can source relevant and factually correct information: You must know how to find and cite reliable sources, including credible news sites, market research studies, press releases, etc. You also know how to tap the vast resources of social media—Reddit, TikTok, Instagram—to find the latest viral trends and buzzed-about topics.
  • You have strong writing skills: You should be able to produce clean copy that is grammatically correct, well-structured, and cited appropriately. You will be translating food and restaurant industry topics into clear and informative content for our readers.
  • You can consistently and prolifically pitch top-notch ideas that align with our brand and voice.
  • You have access to a great network: You know reputable experts in the field: chefs, sommeliers, grocery experts, data analysts, and PR contacts for major food brands. You are comfortable with and proactive about reaching out for quotes, clarifying details, etc.
  • You are capable of taking clean, well-lit photos for original taste tests (we will provide guidelines and tips)
  • You are based in the United States

HERE ARE SOME EXAMPLES OF THE TYPES OF ARTICLES WE MIGHT ASSIGN YOU:

CURRENT RATES:

  • $150 per blog-style news article (~500 words) or any listicle under 10 entries
  • $200-$250 per 10-20 item list (depending on research needed)
  • $300+ per 20+ slide slideshow

A flat monthly rate can be arranged for writers who can commit to contributing at least 2+ stories per week on an ongoing basis.
