Writer, Mercor – $50/hr 

Mercor is recruiting Creative Writers, Authors and Screenwriters for a research project.

This position pays $50 USD/hour

This project involves evaluating the quality of creative writing tasks conducted by LLMs/Chatbots. The goal is to understand how well LLMs can perform tasks that require creativity, storytelling, contextual relevance and narrative development.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Content Creation: Develop clear, and contextually appropriate written content adhering to the guidelines suggested.
• Editing and Proofreading: Review, edit, and enhance existing written content to ensure clarity, coherence, and alignment with brand voice and communication guidelines. This includes refining tone, structure, and language to meet the needs of diverse audiences.
• Analysis: Analyze the preferences of the target audience, ensuring it is accessible, relevant, and engaging. This includes understanding and applying the principles of tone modulation and audience engagement.
• Feedback and Revision: Provide constructive feedback on written content created and implement feedback received to continually improve content quality.
• Creative Problem Solving: Adapt content to address specific user needs, to make them better on a lot of suggested parameters

• Creative Writers: MFA from Iowa City Writer’s Workshop (University of Iowa), Columbia, Helen Zell Writers’ Program (University of Michigan), NYU, Michener Center for Writers (UT Austin), Brown, UVA, Johns Hopkins, UC Irvine, Boston University, Cornell, University of Massachusetts Amherstt, University of Wisconsin Madison, University of Oregon.
• Authors: Published in Penguin Random House, HarperCollins, Simon & Schuster, Macmillan Publishers, etc.
• Screenwriters: MFA or BFA from USC, UCLA, NYU, Columbia, American Film Institute, UT Austin, Boston University, Chapman university.
• Have high attention to detail

Here are more details about the role:

• Your collaborators will be ~25 consultants from across the US
• The project is 15-20 hours of work per week
• The work is fully asynchronous and can be done around your schedule
• This project is scoped to last 1-2 months, although it may terminate at any time

With respect to pay and legal status:

• Your hourly pay will be $50 USD/hour
• We will pay you out at the end of each week via Stripe Connect
• You log the number of hours you spend each week
• You will be classified as an “at-will” contractor to Mercor
