Writer/Editor IV

The writer/editor will support NASA’s Research and Technology Mission Directorate by developing clear, compelling and scientifically accurate written content highlighting research, results, and mission milestones.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop written content including news articles, features, web copy, press releases, and backgrounders highlighting research, mission milestones, and research results.
  • Collaborate with researchers, communications leads, and multimedia teams to ensure accuracy and alignment with organizational messaging.
  • Edit and review materials for clarity, accuracy, and adherence to style and AP guidelines.
  • Support media activities by preparing talking points, rapid‑turn statements, and briefing materials.
  • Strengthen narrative through thematic storytelling that connects research to broader goals and public interest.
  • Track engagement metrics and incorporate feedback to enhance content effectiveness.
  • Responsible for generating routine or ad-hocs reports for management.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications or relevant area of specialization with 15 year of experience
  • Writing Skills: Demonstrated experience writing in the field of science and technology
  • Editorial Skills: Excellent writing and editing skills, with proven ability to translate complex scientific concepts into clear, engaging story telling.
  • Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with the science and technology community, communications teams, and external partners.
  • Outreach: Experience supporting in-person engagement events with the ability to travel occasionally as needed
  • Experience in content development for digital platforms
  • Experience with rapid response writing, marketing or engagement campaigns, and executive communications
