Writer/Content Developer, AVID Center – $50 an hour
We’re a nationally recognized nonprofit that partners with 8,000 schools across the country to shift to a more equitable, student-centered approach, closing the opportunity gap so that ALL students are prepared for college, career, and life. And the results? Well, they speak for themselves.
AVID provides 2.5 million students annually with the tools they need to think critically, collaborate, and set high expectations to confidently conquer the challenges that await them. We accomplish this work by training over 85,000 educators every year through in-person and virtual professional learning opportunities.
WHAT IS THE JOB?
The Content Developer / Writer is part of AVID Center’s network of On-Call, Part-Time Employees (OCPTE). Our OCPTE’s are hired to support specific AVID projects and initiatives, using their experience and expertise in the field to support the ongoing internal work of AVID Center. OCPTE’s will be assigned a Temporary Employment Agreement (TEA) with set deliverables and an approved number of hours to complete the tasks assigned to them.
We are currently looking for several Content Developers/Writers to support the design and development of Professional Learning sessions, review of content for these sessions, and general resource curation such as resource banks and programming outlines for new teacher support. We are looking for educators that are new to the teaching profession or have solid experience working with new teachers in their day-to-day work, as this perspective will provide valuable insight to the deliverables assigned to you.
Details of the Assignment:
This is a part-time, non-exempt opportunity and is not eligible for employee benefits afforded to full-time AVID Center employees. OCPTE’s may accrue sick time in accordance with applicable state laws.
The payrate for this opportunity is $50 per hour. We anticipate the deliverables assigned to the individual(s) in this role will require approximately 40-50 total hours during the months of April – June, 2025.
This is a fully remote opportunity and OCPTE’s are expected to provide their own equipment for use during the course of their TEA. AVID Center will provide all employees with an AVID-issued email address and corresponding accounts necessary for the successful completion of each assignment.
AVID Center prides itself on the diversity of our workplace and are continuously seeking to recruit individuals who will enhance this diversity and, ultimately, the effectiveness of our organization.
AVID Center is an equal opportunity employer and will not discriminate on the basis of race (including traits historically associated with race, such as hair texture and protective hairstyles) color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, childbirth, lactation and related medical conditions), gender, gender identity and gender expression (including transgender individuals who are transitioning, have transitioned, or are perceived to be transitioning to the gender with which they identify), sexual orientation, national origin, ancestry, citizenship, age, physical or mental disability, marital status, or any other basis protected by local, state or federal laws.
In compliance with the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986, the AVID Center will hire only U.S. citizens and aliens lawfully authorized to work in the United States.
AVID Center complies with federal and state disability laws, including the Americans with Disabilities Act, and will provide reasonable accommodations for applicants and employees with disabilities. AVID Center is committed to complying with federal, state and local law on employee vaccinations and candidates and employees should be aware that full vaccination against COVID-19 may be required in the future. Currently AVID Center will not assign any employee to an in-person event in schools or districts unless they are fully vaccinated.
