Project Overview
We are seeking an experienced Wikipedia editor and researcher to create, write, and successfully publish a neutral, well-sourced company Wikipedia article on our behalf. The contractor will be responsible for the full lifecycle of the article — from sourcing reliable references to navigating Wikipedia’s submission and review process — and will ensure the page meets Wikipedia’s notability and content standards.
Scope of Work
1. Notability Assessment
- Review existing third-party coverage of the company to assess whether it meets Wikipedia’s General Notability Guideline (GNG).
- Provide a brief written assessment confirming notability before beginning the article draft.
- Flag any potential conflicts of interest or issues that may complicate approval.
2. Research & Source Compilation
- Identify and compile a minimum of 5–10 reliable, independent, third-party sources (news articles, industry publications, academic or government references).
- Exclude press releases, company-owned content, and promotional materials as primary sources.
- Provide a source list with URLs and publication dates for client review prior to drafting.
3. Article Drafting
- Write the article in a neutral point of view (NPOV) consistent with Wikipedia’s editorial policies.
- Structure the article to include: introduction/lead section, company history, products or services, notable milestones, and references.
- Format the article using proper Wikipedia markup (wikitext), including citations, categories, and infobox.
- Submit a draft to the client for review and incorporate one round of feedback before submission.
4. Submission & Review Management
- Submit the article through Wikipedia’s Articles for Creation (AfC) process or directly to the main namespace if the contractor has autoconfirmed or extended-confirmed status.
- Monitor the submission and respond to reviewer feedback, requests for additional sources, or required edits.
- Make necessary revisions to secure article approval and publication.
Deliverables
- Written notability assessment (before drafting begins).
- Compiled source list with a minimum of 5 verified, independent references.
- Complete article draft in wikitext format, reviewed by client.
- Successfully published Wikipedia article (URL provided upon completion).
- Brief summary report of the submission process and any editorial decisions made.
- If the article is declined by Wikipedia editors after two rounds of revision, the contractor will provide a written explanation of the editorial feedback.
The contractor must comply with Wikipedia’s paid editing disclosure policy and disclose their relationship with the client on their Wikipedia user page and the article’s talk page.
