Technical Writer (Contract) at Microsoft – $41.50 – 47 per hour

Summary:
We’re looking for a Content Designer who will design content experiences for Microsoft Security products, like Defender, Purview, Entra, and Intune. This role is about defining how content works with visuals and interaction flows to shape every stage of these security experiences. This role entails writing UI copy, but also involves conceptual analysis, terminology management, user research, and maintenance of content experience guidelines.
This role requires a blend of project management, stakeholder management, content design, and UX writing expertise. As such, the content designer will also be responsible for planning, identifying deliverables and dependencies, and tracking and reporting progress.
Job Responsibilities:
- Plan deliverables by coordinating with PMs, Product Designers, and other stakeholders.
- Identity key terms and facilitate vetting activities to finalize terms and ensure they are tracked.
- Work with Product Designers and other stakeholders to finalize workflows and provide consistent, actionable, and readable content that aligns with standards and guidelines.
- Work with documentation writers to ensure coherent content experiences between the UI and documentation.
- Prepare, update, and maintain content experience guidelines.
- Work with User Experience Researchers to validate designs and gather insights and ensure findings inform design decisions.
Requirements:
- 3 or more years of experience in Content Design, UX Writing, or related field
- Foundational study in UX Design, Journalism, English, Creative Writing, Informatics, Communications, or a related field.
- Excellent writing and editing skills
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Ability to efficiently use various tools, including project management tools (ADO, JIRA), Microsoft 365, Figma, and Copilot.
- Experience or training in Design Thinking methodology.
- Experience working with design systems.
- Experience working in security, cybersecurity, or related field.
- Familiarity with accessibility requirements and best practices.
- Versatility in writing across form factors, subject matter, and audiences.
- Strong creative collaboration and problem-solving skills.
