Technical Writer and Content Designer – $83,500 to $120,900 per year

In this role, approximately half your time will be technical writing, and the other half content design.

 

As a Technical Writer, you will create clear, user-friendly documentation and content that helps customers understand and effectively use our products. You will focus on developing content for our products, product integrations and apps, ensuring it meets the needs of both internal and external users. This role requires attention to detail and the ability to simplify complex information. You will work closely with engineers, product managers, and other team members to produce documentation that supports product adoption and enhances user experience.

 

As a Content Designer, you will act as an integral partner with the Design, Product Management, and Engineering teams. You will focus on making the product easy to adopt. This role helps shape the in-product information for our products and creates engaging website copy to help drive growth. You’ll thrive when writing original copy and collaborating with multiple stakeholders, including Design, Research, Marketing, Product Management, and more.

 

This position is an individual contributor role reporting to the Senior Manager, Product Documentation.

 

Responsibility

  • Design, create, and publish content that is clear, accurate, and easy to understand

  • Develop and maintain technical and feature documentation for a range of audiences, including commercial end-users and enterprise admins

  • Ensure timely delivery of content that aligns with product releases and quality standards

  • Collaborate with internal teams, such as engineers and product managers, to gather information and incorporate feedback into documentation

  • Use feedback and data to make informed content decisions and improve documentation

  • Contribute to content standards and guidelines, ensuring consistency and clarity

  • Lead individual projects effectively, meeting deadlines and balancing multiple tasks

  • Review and revise existing content to ensure it meets current standards and user needs

  • Write new copy for the Docusign UI and website, including labels, feature naming, instructional in-app user communication, and more

  • Help drive clarity and consistency in tone and terminology, and use a systemic approach for in-product copy

  • Collaborate with UX designers to create a cohesive cross-product experience

  • Serve as the resident UI copy expert, collaborating and coaching for designers, writers, PMs, and engineers as appropriate

Job Designation

Hybrid: Employee divides their time between in-office and remote work. Access to an office location is required. (Frequency: Minimum 2 days per week; may vary by team but will be weekly in-office expectation)

What you bring

Basic

  • 2+ years of experience in technical writing or a related field
  • 1+ years of experience in content design, UX copywriting or a related field
  • Experience with creating technical documentation, preferably in a high-tech environment (i.e., SaaS, software, or hardware)
  • Experience with creating UI content, preferably in a SaaS, software, or hardware environment
  • Experience with Google Workspace 
  • A portfolio of UX-focused writing samples and/or style guidelines
  • Experience working on multi-disciplinary teams

Preferred

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Experience writing for a variety of audiences, including enterprise customers
  • Familiarity with structured-authoring frameworks or tools (e.g., DITA)
  • Familiarity with design tools (e.g., Figma)
  • Ability to use feedback to improve content and contribute to documentation quality
