Staff Curriculum Writer – AZCTECC – $44,200 – $51,480 a year

Position Summary:
The Staff Curriculum Writer collaborates with content experts to craft high-quality Career and Technical Education curricular and instructional materials including informational lessons, operational lessons (labs), projects, units, and courses in approved Arizona CTE CurriculumConsortium formats that align with Arizona Technical and Professional Standards.The Staff Curriculum Writer may also coordinate the work of, and provide support to, Teacher
Writers producing curricular materials for their CTE program area that align with Arizona Technical and Professional Standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop curricular units and resources in alignment with the Arizona CTE Technical and Professional Standards and Instructional Resource documents, including the Scope & Sequence and Task Analysis in the program area
Meet and work collaboratively with Content Specialists and Teacher Writers to validate lesson flow and accuracy
Write lessons, projects, units, and supporting material to specific design criteria as established by the Consortium
Adjust and revise lessons, projects, and units as recommended by the editorial team
Curate curricular resources and materials in alignment with instructional resource documents and the Arizona CTE Technical and Professional Standards
When required, coordinate the work of, and provide training and support to Teacher Writers producing or curating curricular materials for the CTE program
Attend and/or facilitate in-person and/or virtual AZCTECC events including Quarterly Business meetings, Scope & Sequence events, conference sessions, etc.

Valid Arizona teacher certification
A strong understanding of Career and Technical Education
Pedagogical understanding of teaching methods and processes to create content that facilitates learning
Completed or must complete the Instructional Best Practices Premier Series course
A bachelor’s degree AND three years of successful teaching experience OR any equivalent combination of experience and education from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved
Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
Valid AZ driver’s license and willingness to regularly travel in-state, as needed
Proof of MMR immunization required unless born prior to January 1, 1957
Negative TB test within the last year

Preferred:
AZ CTE-certified teacher
Knowledge of the Arizona CTE Curriculum Consortium and CTE Curriculum Connection
Previous participation in an AZCTECC Blueprint & Framework and/or Scope & Sequence event

Skills and Abilities:
Understanding of instructional design principles and methodologies to create effective learning experiences
A collaborative team player with strong written and interpersonal skills, including the ability to develop and maintain effective professional relationships with diverse stakeholders
In-depth knowledge of Career and Technical Education (CTE) and its delivery models
Familiarity with and/or willingness to learn AI tools and applications related to the responsibilities of the position
Self-motivated with a growth mindset and committed to continuous improvement and openness to feedback
Excellent organizational and time management skills, including the ability to take initiative, prioritize tasks, and work independently to meet deadlines and ensure tasks are completed in a timely and efficient manner
Sound judgment and decision-making skills within the scope of assigned authority
Ability to gather, analyze, and synthesize diverse data and resources to inform curriculum development
Creative problem-solving abilities and analytical thinking
Detail-oriented while maintaining a big-picture perspective
? Proficient in using technology, including Google Drive applications, Microsoft Office Products, and standard office equipment

Training and Evaluation:
Curriculum Writers are required to complete a Lesson/Unit Plan Writing Training course and produce a quality unit reviewed and approved by the editorial team.

A comprehensive review of lesson and unit writing skills will be completed with lessons 1 – 3
and unit completion thereafter using the AZCTECC Editor’s Rubric.

A 90-day review will be administered to ensure lesson and unit completion is meeting
expectations.

Expectations:
Staff Curriculum Writers are an integral part of the lesson writing and curriculum development process. As such, regular, consistent, and timely completion of curricular materials is crucial. Curriculum Writers are expected to communicate regularly with a Content Specialist, Teacher Writers (as needed), Editor(s), and the Director/Assistant Director to ensure timely progress of curriculum development.
