SEO Content Editor
The Mediterranean Dish is a fast-growing Mediterranean food and lifestyle brand reaching millions of home cooks each month. We’re hiring an experienced SEO content editor on a contract basis to refresh and optimize our existing recipe library so it continues to rank in Google and gets surfaced and cited across AI search (Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity).
Engagement:
Contract (1099), ~20 hours/week (about 10-15 updates per week)
Fully remote, Ongoing.
What you’ll do:
- Audit and refresh existing recipe content with a “reader-first” mentality— updating on-page SEO, structure, internal links, headings, metadata, and freshness signals to recover and defend organic traffic.
- Optimize content for AI search / generative engines (GEO): clear answer formatting, structured data/schema, and authoritative, well-sourced copy that AI systems cite.
- Prioritize refreshes by traffic opportunity using our SEO stack (Ahrefs, Google Search Console) — focusing on high-potential and declining URLs first.
- Preserve and sharpen our brand voice — warm, culturally grounded, never generic — while improving search performance.
- Track impact on pageviews and rankings for refreshed URLs and report on results.
You should have:
- 4+ years of SEO content editing/writing, for food, recipe, or high-traffic editorial sites.
- Fluency with SEMrush or Ahrefs and Google Search Console; comfort with keyword research, content audits, and prioritization.
- Working knowledge of how AI Overviews and LLM-based search select and cite content, and how to structure content to win those placements.
- Experience with WordPress and recipe schema/structured data.
- Strong editorial instincts — you can improve search performance without flattening voice.
Nice to have: Familiarity with the Mediterranean/food space; basic HTML; experience with recipe plugins (e.g., WP Recipe Maker).
To apply: Send your resume, 2–3 examples of content you’ve refreshed with before/after traffic results, and your hourly rate.
