SENIOR WRITER EDITOR

As a SENIOR WRITER EDITOR at the GS-1082-13 some of your typical work assignments may include:

  • Serve as the principal subject matter expert on Defense Department editorial policies and practices, answering questions regarding journalistic/editorial tradecraft and interpretations of style guides.
  • Editing content for Defense.gov, including articles, social media posts, photo captions and written words associated with video content, ensuring accuracy, logic, clarity and appropriate tone, as well as correcting grammar, punctuation and spelling errors.
  • Maintaining a strong working knowledge of current Department of Defense priorities and communication objectives to ensure timely and accurate coverage of DOD strategic goals and objectives.
  • Balancing workload and tasks among editors on the DoD Production Directorate team and provide advice and guidance on work methods and procedures.
  • Working on a rotating on-call schedule as a sole editor on evenings, weekends and federal holidays.
