Established digital media company building a long-term team for our true crime channel. Team already in place, scaling to multiple full-time roles. Long-term positions only.
The channel: Documentary format, 30–60min episodes built around bodycam, dashcam, and interrogation footage from real crime cases.

This is the current writing floor of our channel. We only hire writers who can match or exceed it. We aim to keep improving from here, never drop.
The role: Take the case we assign and turn it into a full documentary script. You choose which footage carries the story and where it lands, build the timeline and structure, and write a tight, retention-driven narration around it. Hooks, reveal order, pacing. The story is the part that actually matters and it’s your job.
What we hand you: Footage already sourced and reviewed, footage key moments and timestamps, and the direction for each video. You put 100% of your energy into writing and retention.
Graphic content: This is real true crime. You’ll be working with unblurred crime scene and evidence photos and disturbing footage. You need to be genuinely fine with that, not just able to tolerate it. If that’s not you, this isn’t the role.
Must-haves:
- Flawless American English writing, no stiff structures
- Proven true crime / documentary scriptwriting, full scripts that aired, not samples
- Real grasp of YouTube retention: hooks, curiosity, reveal pacing
- Ability to write to footage, structuring narration around specific bodycam/interrogation moments
- Self-directed, minimal hand-holding
- A strong, human writing voice, no generic or “AI-slop” phrasing. Making prose sound genuinely human is important for this role.
- No agencies, no outsourcing, the person we hire is the person writing
Terms:
- $24,000–$33,600/year ($2,000–$2,800/month) full-time, starting rate based on writing samples
- 30-day and 3-month reviews with raise eligibility
- Fully async, no timezone requirements
- NDA required
