Scriptwriter – Commercials & Social Video
Rythm is the fastest-growing lab in America. We redefined at-home testing with the world’s easiest blood test and created a culture around monthly lab testing from home. We’ve processed millions of tests across all 50 states, and we do everything in-house, from sample testing and logistics to code, marketing, and design. That vertical integration gives us the speed, control, and creativity to shape the future of health and wellness.
THE ROLE
We’re looking for a Scriptwriter to turn ideas into commercials, social videos, and recurring series for Rythm—and lead the process of bringing those scripts to life.
You’ll set understand the creative vision, develop concepts, and write scenes that are ready to shoot. That includes figuring out who’s in the scene, where it happens, what unfolds, and what people say. We need someone who can build a story through dialogue and visuals, develop ideas from the team, and contribute their own.
Your work will be the starting point for production. You’ll develop the script and scene requirements that guide decisions about locations, talent, props, and how we organize the shoot. From there, you’ll coordinate preparation with our videographer and editor and lead the shoot on set, keeping things moving and making sure we capture what the script needs.
You’ll need to learn Rythm inside and out: our product, our customers, how we talk about health, and what we’re trying to build. That understanding will help you turn company context and content needs into stories that feel like us and make people want to watch.
This is a hands-on writing and production role. You’ll own scripts from concept through approval and carry that ownership into shoot preparation and on-set execution. We value clear direction, practical planning, and the ability to think on your feet.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Turn ideas into scripts. Take team conversations, rough concepts, and company priorities and develop them into scripts with a clear story and direction.
- Bring your own ideas. Pitch commercials, scenes, hooks, and recurring social formats that fit Rythm.
- Develop and write scenes. Create settings, characters, actions, dialogue, and visual moments that turn a concept into something the team can film.
- Give scenes a clear progression. Build setups, reveals, comedic beats, or emotional moments that hold attention and move the story forward.
- Write for video. Develop natural dialogue, voiceover, and on-screen text, with product messaging that fits the story.
- Stay aligned with our CEO’s vision. Understand the intended direction, ask good questions, and incorporate feedback while contributing your own point of view.
- Own the writing process. Move scripts from first draft through revisions and approval, keeping them ready in time to guide shoot planning.
- Build the shoot around the script. Identify the locations, talent, props, and essential action each scene needs, then coordinate with the team to turn those requirements into a practical shoot plan.
- Drive shoot preparation. Make sure scripts, scene breakdowns, and production needs are clear and organized so talent and crew arrive knowing what we’re making and what needs to happen.
- Lead execution on set. Guide talent through the scenes, keep the shoot moving through the plan, and work with our videographer to ensure we capture the dialogue, action, and visual moments the story needs.
- Adapt in the moment. Adjust dialogue, simplify a scene, or work around production constraints while preserving the idea and leaving room for natural performances.
- Collaborate with production and post-production. Work with our videographer and editor to understand what’s practical to shoot and make sure the footage supports the finished video.
- Learn from the finished work. Review the videos and relevant performance feedback, then apply those lessons to future scripts.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- Experience writing commercials, branded content, or social video.
- A portfolio of scripts and finished videos, with a clear explanation of your contribution.
- Experience writing complete scenes, with a strong sense of character, dialogue, pacing, and visual storytelling.
- A feel for casual, conversational content and the judgment to keep a script from sounding too polished, forced, or overly rehearsed.
- The ability to make product messaging interesting and easy to understand.
- The ability to develop both your own ideas and ideas that start with someone else.
- Experience taking a script into production, including identifying what’s needed and helping organize the shoot.
- Confidence leading on set, giving clear direction to talent, and coordinating with crew to keep things moving.
- An understanding of how scripts translate into filming and editing.
- Practical judgment about when to add detail, when to simplify, and how to adapt when something changes.
- A willingness to stay hands-on and help the team get the work done.
- Comfort receiving feedback, revising your work, and staying aligned with an established creative vision and brand voice.
- Curiosity and a willingness to build deep knowledge of our company and customers.
- Follow-through and the ability to manage multiple scripts, shoot preparations, and deadlines.
