Researcher True Crime | Police Prime
We are looking for a highly organized and narratively driven Case Researcher to act as the crucial bridge between our raw case files and our scriptwriting and post-production team.
This is a long-term freelance role with a consistent, steady flow of projects. We use a simple, straightforward system relying primarily on Frame.io and Google Docs (no prior experience with these platforms required).
What You’ll Do:
- Process Raw Materials: Review provided case files, including bodycam footage, interrogations, CCTV, photos, 911 calls, and police reports.
- Take Notes: Find the most important details, clues, and turning points, and write clear, easy-to-read notes.
- Build a Timeline: Reorder all events, footage, and documents into strict chronological order.
- Create a Storyboard: Map out the sequence of events step-by-step so our writers have a clear, structured outline to work from.
What We’re Looking For:
- Highly Organized: You can turn a massive folder of messy, raw files into a clean, easy-to-follow timeline.
- Storytelling Instinct: You know what makes a true crime story gripping and how events should unfold to keep viewers hooked.
- Detail-Oriented: You have a sharp eye for spotting crucial clues hidden in long documents and raw footage.
- Clear Communicator: You have excellent written English and can easily organize your thoughts for the rest of the team.
- Extra: To ensure you have read this job description completely, please include the word “Timeline” at the very top of your application message. Applications without this word will not be reviewed.
Next Steps: If you look like a great fit, we will send you a short sample task with a small batch of raw case files. You will organize them and build a mini-storyboard so we can see your organizational and storytelling skills in action.
