Responsibilities
- Documentation Creation: Develop and maintain technical documentation such as user manuals, how-to guides, FAQs, API documentation, whitepapers, and knowledge bases.
- Collaboration: Work closely with subject matter experts (SMEs), software developers, product managers, and engineers to gather and verify information.
- Content Clarity: Ensure all technical documentation is accurate, well-organized, and easy to understand for both technical and non-technical users.
- Editing and Proofreading: Review and edit existing documents to improve readability, consistency, and technical accuracy.
- Content Management: Organize and maintain documentation repositories, ensuring they are up-to-date and accessible to relevant stakeholders.
- Graphics and Visuals: Create or incorporate diagrams, screenshots, and other visual aids to enhance documentation and improve user comprehension.
- Style Guides: Adhere to company style guides and industry standards for technical writing, ensuring consistency across all materials.
- Research: Stay updated on the latest tools, technologies, and industry trends to produce relevant and forward-thinking documentation.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Technical Writing Expertise: Proven experience in creating technical documents, including user manuals, process documentation, or online help systems.
- Writing Skills: Strong command of the English language, with excellent grammar, syntax, and style.
- Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with technical concepts, software development processes, and tools such as APIs, cloud platforms, or databases.
- Tool Proficiency: Proficiency with documentation tools such as MadCap Flare, Adobe FrameMaker, Microsoft Word, or Google Docs. Familiarity with content management systems (CMS) and version control systems (e.g., Git).
- Visual Design Tools: Basic proficiency with graphic design tools like Adobe Illustrator, Snagit, or Visio to create visuals for documentation.
- Organizational Skills: Strong ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a remote work environment.
- Collaboration Skills: Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and gather technical insights from SMEs.
- Experience: 2+ years of experience in technical writing or a related field.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, Communications, English, Computer Science, or a related field. Equivalent experience may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a remote or distributed team environment.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools such as Jira or Trello.
- Knowledge of programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, C++) to better understand technical concepts.
- Certification in technical writing or a related field (e.g., Society for Technical Communication – STC Certification).
- Multilingual skills, depending on target audience and company needs.
