SCORE is hiring new Essay Experts for 2027 applications
We’re one of the largest college counseling services providers in Latin America, helping over 100 undergraduate students get admitted to universities abroad. If you’re looking for flexible hours, freedom to work from wherever, and engaging work with bright young people, we’re looking for you!Responsibilities:Our essay advisors provide guidance to students and proofread essays for college applications. You are NOT allowed to write for them. As an Essay Expert at SCORE, we need you to do the following:
- Meet with students virtually to brainstorm essay ideasProvide guidance on what content, style and structure would be most effective for their essayReview drafts and provide feedbackProofread final draftsInform the student’s counselor of progress (or the lack of, in some cases)
Hours and Pay
Each student at SCORE is given up to 8 hours of essay advisory time. You get paid for all 8 whether you have them or not. On average, most students use 4.5 hours. Some students have an unlimited package that allows them to book more than 8 hours, and you’d be paid at your hourly rate for any extra hours performed.Pay rate starts at $20/hr and goes up to $30/hr, based on experience. If you choose to work the next cycle, we typically raise the rates by $2.50/hr each year.We pay 50% of the case’s value upon assignment and 50% after the first major deliverable is complete.WorkloadWe are looking for someone willing to take on up to 20 cases this cycle, with a minimum of 5. You are free to refuse more cases at any time and I would rather have someone who does 5 happily than someone who struggles with 15 due to time constraints. Most of the work is done between July and December. Students typically schedule meetings in the afternoons after school, and the majority are based out of Peru, which is the same time as US Central during DST, and US Eastern in the winter.If interested, please fill out the form linked here and send a CV to the email provided.
