Location: 100% Remote (US-based)
Schedule: Part-time / Freelance (On-call basis with fluctuating hours; must be reachable and responsive between 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM CST)

A leading global professional services firm is seeking experienced Proofreaders / Quality Assurance Specialists to support a surge in work volume during their peak seasonal business period. This seasonal freelance role plays a vital part in producing high-quality, accurate client-facing materials and communications.
Because this role is structured on an on-call freelance model, it is perfect for professionals who thrive in a flexible, independent environment. You do not need to sit at your computer all day, but you must keep email notifications on to quickly confirm receipt of assignments during the 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM CST window. Please note that hours will fluctuate and are not guaranteed; however, you will receive a guaranteed 20 hours of pay per week during the initial two-week training period.
Responsibilities:
- Proofread Regulated Content & Graphics: Review and edit highly regulated, employee-facing documents for spelling, grammar, punctuation, clarity, and consistency. Meticulously audit complex visual data such as charts, graphs, and tables.
- Adhere to Standards: Ensure all materials strictly conform to client-specific style guides, regulatory compliance standards, and internal editorial guidelines.
- Follow Precise Workflows: Execute reviews according to strict, step-by-step instructions. Finalize, label, and log files exactly as instructed within the project management system to ensure they are seamlessly searchable.
- Manage Shifting Priorities: Work quickly and accurately under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Maintain Autonomy: Fully engage in a comprehensive two-week training program, then operate independently by proactively using training manuals and resources to resolve daily questions.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of professional editing and/or proofreading experience.
- Excellent command of English grammar, spelling, punctuation, and style usage.
- Exceptional attention to detail, especially regarding strict file-labeling and saving protocols.
- Strong time-management skills with the ability to meet rapid turnaround times (often 1 to 2 hours from receipt).
- Must have access to a reliable, personal laptop or desktop computer to work from.
- Flexible availability to handle both low-hour weeks and peak weeks (up to 40 hours, including occasional weekends) without capped hourly constraints.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience proofing materials in employee benefits, insurance, or other highly regulated industries.
- Familiarity with collaborative editing and markup tools (e.g., Adobe Acrobat PDF markups, Microsoft Word Track Changes).
