Part-Time Social Media Manager – $45.00/hour
Resolve Philly, founded in 2018, is a new kind of local newsroom. It’s a model for the future designed for community impact. We center our editorial work around news and information that is for and with those who have been long harmed by traditional media narratives. We are committed to deep community engagement, maximizing access to news and information, and understanding the information needs of communities across Philadelphia in order to produce relevant and impactful stories.
The Role (Overview)
This role is Resolve Philly’s social media go-to person. The successful Social Media Manager will be experienced in creating content for and managing a mission-driven organization’s social media accounts. This includes responsibility for gathering information and designing creative assets for regularly scheduled posts and taking a role in social media and digital engagement strategy and implementation. The Social Media Manager is responsible for both Resolve Philly’s social media accounts and those of its Equally Informed Philly project.
Who You Are (Qualifications, Experience, Core Competencies & Skills)
- You have at least 3-year’s experience in creating content for and managing Instagram, LinkedIn and Facebook accounts for a mission-driven organization.
- You have experience executing successful strategies for audience engagement and growth.
- You are fluent in Canva and design best practices for social media.
- You have experience using content management software and systems, particularly Sprout Social.
- You are fluent in Mailchimp and specifically formatting, creating, and scheduling newsletters.
- You are excited about working with a mission-focused news organization to continue building an excellent social media presence.
- You are a highly collaborative self-starter – you love being a part of a team, and you manage your own work and time well .
- You are deeply committed to racial, social, and economic justice; you approach your work with grace, humility, openness, and curiosity.
- Proficient in making photos and videos for social media.
What You’ll Do (Key Responsibilities)
- Social Media Content — Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram & X
- Source, build and publish content to Resolve Philly’s official Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram accounts.
- Source, build, and publish content to Equally Informed Philly’s official Facebook and Instagram accounts. Content will align with Equally Informed Philly’s messaging priorities, including the Equal Information Text Line.
- Monitor the Equally Informed Philly X account for any issues, no content creation is required.
- Posting volume : Three to four static posts each week.
- Instagram Reels (2 per month)
- Produce and deliver four (2) short-form video Reels per month:
- Reels will be produced to Instagram’s current technical specifications and published to the program’s Instagram account.
- Community Management
- Monitor and respond to incoming direct messages (DMs) and comments across X, Facebook, and Instagram.
- Response time target: within one (1) business day for standard inquiries.
- Flag urgent, sensitive, or crisis-level messages to the supervisor.
- Paid Content Boosting
- Manage boosting and paid promotion of designated content posts as directed by the supervisor.
- All paid media spend will be approved by the supervisor in advance.
- Provide a brief summary of boost performance within each monthly analytics report.
- Monthly Analytics Reporting
- Deliver one (1) written analytics report per month, covering all managed platforms.
- Reports will include: reach, impressions, engagement rate, follower growth, and Reel performance.
- Snacks Newsletter Support
- Format the quarterly Snacks newsletter
- Send the quarterly Snacks newsletter
Who You Will Collaborate With (Key Relationships)
Internal: The Social Media Manager reports to the Executive Director. This role also works with the Director of Community News and Engagement and the Director of Revenue.

Employment Type: Part-Time, up to 12 hours per week
Compensation: $45.00 per hour
Working Hours: This role is authorized for up to 12 hours per week. While there are no pre-established core working hours, the employee will coordinate with their supervisor to establish core hours to allow for team collaboration. Remaining hours may be worked at the employee’s discretion, provided project timelines are met and internal communications remain prompt.
