JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Office of Research Marketing & Communications within OSVPR (Office of the Senior Vice President for Research) is seeking a part-time staff member to assist with strategic writing and content development for the research enterprise.
This position is expected to work approximately 10-20 hours per week helping to support key research content for strategies within several of the OSVPR units, institutes and colleges.
Assignments will be within key areas:
- Writing research articles that represent Penn State’s research enterprise – developing stories that reflect common themes, high-priority strategies, requests which cross multiple research areas, and impact stories across the interdisciplinary institutes and colleges.
- Research and Story Development: Identify and develop compelling narratives that highlight Penn State’s research achievements, focusing on themes that resonate across its interdisciplinary institutes and colleges.
- Collaboration with Researchers: Engage with faculty, researchers, and staff to gather accurate, detailed information about ongoing and completed research projects, ensuring that the stories reflect the depth and impact of their work.
- Interdisciplinary Focus: Emphasize the collaborative nature of research at Penn State by showcasing how different disciplines intersect and contribute to the university’s overall research mission and impact.
- Editing and Peer Review Coordination: Work closely with Penn State’s strategic communications teams to coordinate, refine and polish articles, ensuring they meet high standards of clarity, accuracy, and engagement.
