PART-TIME COPY EDITOR – $33 – $38 an hour

Our client is seeking a highly skilled, part-time Copy Editor to join our editorial team. This role is essential for maintaining our high standards for accuracy, style, and quality across all of our digital content.
This is a remote, part-time position and will be based on the Eastern Time Zone schedule.
Responsibilities:
- As the final line of defense, you will be responsible for ensuring all published content is flawless:
- Copyedit a wide range of content, including editorial pieces, show titles and descriptions, and social media posts.
- Coordinate copy flow and deadlines with editors and fact-checkers.
- Utilize WordPress to build, format, and maintain pages on our website.
- Vet stories with an eye toward journalistic values, taste, legal sensitivity, and elegant sentence construction.
- Demonstrate the versatility to quickly edit a news-oriented post or deeply edit a reported feature.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience as a copy editor for a daily publication or fast-paced editorial environment. Applicants with no prior experience will not be considered.
- Mastery of both Chicago and AP styles.
- Demonstrated ability to edit for structure, taste, grammar, punctuation, and style under continuous deadline pressure.
- Proficiency working with multiple editors in a continuous deadline environment.
- Proficiency using WordPress or similar web-based production tools to build and maintain web pages.
Preferred Experience:

- Experience with or a high comfort level reading and editing sports content.
- Comfort vetting and editing pop-culture copy.
- Experience in digital media production and a background in digital publishing.
