Junior to Mid-Level Financial Operations Writer – $25/hr – $30/hr
General Purpose Of The Job
NOTE: FOR FREELANCE THIS IS REMOTE. IF FULL-TIME DOWN THE LINE ON-SITE REQUIRED IN Des Moines area.
This is a Junior to Mid-level role, if this converts to full-time for local candidates, the salary will be ~62K annually.
The Writer for Operational Correspondence is responsible for creating clear,
concise, and consistent communication to our financial professionals and
policyholders regarding complex financial matters. The incumbent is responsible
for writing, editing, or rewriting various communications consistent with the
company’s brand guidelines for style and tone.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Develops original content and revises previously published business
materials, including policy statements, fair-market value letters, product
changes, service transactions, letter confirmations, and remediation as
needed.
- Prepares informative communication to internal employees to create awareness
of financial professional or policyholder communication and prepares talking
points for Operations staff who may receive questions about operational
correspondence.
- Differentiates communication style and depth of detail based on medium of
delivery, including (but not limited to) direct mail, email, web portal, and
text.
- Prepares material for projects, which includes planning, outline and
synopsis.
- Ensures the logical flow of all writing produced.
- Collaborate closely with Operations, Compliance, Information Technology,
Sales and Distribution on messaging to ensure technical accuracy and
consistent brand voice. Revises content as suggested by leaders and peers.
Use a structured proofreading process to ensure error-free copy.
- Facilitate discussions with business stakeholders and IT project team members
in order to deliver correspondence solutions that improve process, reduce
risk, and provide technical flexibility that meets architectural needs.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
None required for this position.
Education And/Or Experience
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year College or university; or two (2) or
more years years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent
combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Requires knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and excellent written
communication skills.
- Knowledge of AP writing style.
- Ability to understand and write about complex financial and annuity product
concepts.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals,
professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, procedure manuals, and
talking points.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from
groups.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers.
- Ability to successfully handle pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced
work environment.
- Requires dealing with outside vendors for printing and other special
projects. Also works frequently with internal partners for various projects.
- Ability to work cooperatively and successfully with co-employees, customers,
and other outside third parties.
- Must be able to multi-task and problem solve.
- Position requires managing one’s time and the time of others and being able
to adjust in relation to other’s actions.
