How to Create a Profitable Email Followup Series

I’m sure you’re familiar with just how powerful email marketing is.

However, there’s usually one problem when it comes to being a successful email marketer.

And that problem?

Is creating a profitable email followup series.

After all, it’s simple to just load up a few emails in a series, but it’s a completely different story when it comes to profiting (while keeping your subscribers happy at the same time).

So how do we achieve this?

Be sure to keep reading on as we get right into the topic.

Profitable Email Followups

Before I begin, I want to let you know that these follow-ups are going to be 100% automated.

All you simply need to do is:

  1. Write your emails
  2. Have them be sent out every X days in your autoresponder

I prefer every 2 days, but you can do less or more (it’s completely up to you).

What’s next…

Now you need a structure when it comes to having successful email followups.

Here’s the method that I use (and recommend that you use as well):

  1. Value
  2. Value
  3. Review.
  4. Promo

While there are only 4 words there, the rabbit hole goes much deeper.

So let’s start off with the first 2 value emails and why you want to use them.

Value Emails

The majority of people who subscribe to your email list just might not know you all that well, and that’s perfectly fine.

That’s also what value emails are for, as they allow you to accomplish a few important things:

  • Demonstrate your expertise
  • Show them you know what you’re talking about
  • Get them to know, like, and trust you (and your advice)
  • All while being able to make a small recommendation at the same time

So in case you’re not familiar with the last bullet point above…

You also are able to make a light promotion while providing great value and advice.

So when it comes to value emails, you simply want them to click on the links that you have.

From there?

They will get taken to some type of video, blog post, or even a landing page.

Here is an example of my landing page that I use (where I embed my YouTube video).

So here is what I have (starting from the top):

  • Headline
  • Video
  • Call to action (from the resource I talked about)

Pretty cool, right?

And in case you wonder what I use for landing pages, it’s ClickFunnels.

I won’t go into detail about them, but you can learn more about this tool here.

So that’s what the value emails are all about: Sending your subscribers to something valuable (while also being able to make a natural, genuine recommendation).

Next up…

Review Emails

Remember how I talked about making a light recommendation in the value videos?

Well, this email is going to take your subscribers to another blog post, video, or landing page where you actually review what you mentioned previously.

See… there is a reason for all my madness 😛

Once again, the main goal is to get your subscribers to click in the email so that they get taken to the review you have for the product.

You are also not doing the review in the email.

That’s what the blog post, video, or landing page is for.

So let’s move to the last aspect now.

Promo Emails

This type of email is exactly what you thought it would be: Promoting the product, offer, or service.

Once again, you want to get the click as you will be sending your subscribers to a specific page.

This time?

It will be some type of pre-sell or bonus page.

Now let me ask you a few questions:

  • Would you like to have higher conversions?
  • Would you like to make more money with emails?
  • Heck, would you like to have people purchase from you rather than your competitors?

Excellent.

That’s why it’s important that you create some type of bonus offer for your subscribers.

So not only are you recommending an amazing product, offer, or service; you are now giving subscribers the chance to get awesome bonuses along with it.

Pretty cool, right?

Conclusion

So this is how you can not only create a profitable email followup series, but also:

  • Make even more money
  • Increase conversions
  • Have your subscribers buy from you (instead of competitors)
  • Plus, your subscribers tend to stick around a lot longer with this setup

The irony is that this is less about the emails and more about what you send your subscribers to.

You’re also always giving before you ask for anything, so what happens when it comes to long term results?

You can count on this being a winning strategy. Plain and simple.
