Found Your Place (foundyourplace.com) is a New York City voucher lease-up company.
We help tenants, landlords, nonprofit partners, and brokers place and lease housing under CityFHEPS, FHEPS, Section 8, and similar programs.
We’re hiring a freelance writer to post weekly articles on our website about housing in New York City, covering both tenant and landlord perspectives.
What you’ll do
- Write and publish one original article per week on foundyourplace.com about NYC housing
- Cover topics from the tenant side (vouchers, leasing, shelter-to-housing, tenant rights) and the landlord/broker side (leasing to voucher holders, inspections, payments, compliance)
- Fact-check and cite public sources; keep posts clear and useful for people navigating NYC housing
- Coordinate with Found Your Place on topics and publish on an agreed weekly schedule
Requirements
- Proven experience writing weekly (or regularly published) housing coverage for a news organization or newspaper — exactly this kind of beat work, not general blogging alone
- Strong knowledge of New York City housing issues (rental market, vouchers, landlords, tenants)
- Ability to write clearly for both tenants and landlords without jargon overload- Reliable weekly delivery and comfort working remotely with light editorial feedback
- Samples of published housing journalism required with your application
Nice to have
- Experience covering CityFHEPS, Section 8, HRA/DSS, or NYC shelter-to-housing-
- Familiarity with WordPress or similar CMS
- NYC-based or deep NYC sourcing network
Pay: $24.72 – $29.78 per hour
