Farsi Literacy Content Specialist (K-3)
Working in partnership with a CONFIDENTIAL and esteemed educational publisher, Lumina Datamatics, Inc. is currently seeking Grade 2-3 Reading and Literacy writers to contribute to the creation of a new national reading literacy program. With a commitment to DEI, we’re driven to engage writers from every background. Our immediate need requires writers with Farsi/Iranian–heritage who can help us create differentiated texts depicting short legends, fairy tales, and folktales that are respectfully and creatively tied to the traditions and customs of families from this region.
Ideal candidates will have one or more of the following qualifications:
• A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with a focus in Reading/Literacy/Language Arts
• Experience writing and editing early primary reading/language arts materials for students and teachers
• Experience working with publisher-provided materials for reading/literacy programs, such as learning objectives, scope and sequence, prototypes, guidelines, and other documentation
• Experience in writing trade books, articles, stories, or other prose materials on related subject matter
• Experience in writing engaging student reading selections and materials that are structurally controlled and targeted to specific Lexile ranges.
Writers may be asked to provide relevant writing sample or publication lists. Samples may include targeted works of fiction or nonfiction geared toward a particular grade level (2-3) and demonstrating subject matter expertise.
Broad Project Description:
This project will involve the creation and development of a brand-new multi-component Reading/Literacy program for Grades 2-3. Student-facing reading selections at 300-400 words apiece will be needed to support the program and will require writers from diverse backgrounds. The project has already launched and requires a time investment of 6-8 hours per text. Most writing selections will be short folktales, legends, and fairy tales that can be completed within a week or two. The project comes with support from an experienced project manager, and helpful resource material provided by the client. The rate for each text is $220, which includes the initial and revised manuscript. The text includes a passage as described above, art specs, a short glossary, and multiple-choice comprehension questions.
