Kentro is hiring for an Enterprise Printing Technical Writer to support our Veterans Affairs ESOM contract.
The Enterprise Printing Technical Writer develops and maintains the technical documentation that enables the successful implementation, operation, and long-term support of the Enterprise Printing environment. Partnering with Solutions Architects, Enterprise Printing Engineers, Security Analysts, and operational stakeholders, this individual transforms complex technical concepts into clear, actionable documentation that supports standardized processes and consistent execution across the enterprise.
The Enterprise Printing Technical Writer is responsible for developing and maintaining the technical documentation that supports the enterprise printing environment throughout its lifecycle. This role works closely with engineering, security, operations, and support teams to create clear, accurate, and maintainable documentation that enables standardized implementation, efficient operations, effective knowledge transfer, and consistent support across the enterprise.
Location: this position can be performed remotely within the United States and will support Eastern Time working hours.
Compensation Range: The salary for this position is between $70k-81k/annually. Factors affecting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.Responsibilities:
Technical Documentation
- Develop, maintain, and continuously improve technical documentation supporting enterprise printing hardware, software, print management systems, and supporting infrastructure.
- Create implementation guides, installation procedures, configuration documentation, operational runbooks, user manuals, quick-reference guides, troubleshooting documentation, and Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs).
- Ensure documentation remains current throughout the lifecycle of the Enterprise Printing Initiative as technical designs, firmware, software, and operational processes evolve.
Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Develop comprehensive Standard Operating Procedures supporting installation, configuration, administration, maintenance, monitoring, security controls, and operational support of enterprise printing environments.
- Document repeatable operational processes to ensure consistent service delivery across implementation and support teams.
Collaboration with Subject Matter Experts
- Partner closely with Enterprise Printing Engineers, Solutions Architects, Security Analysts, Printer Support Administrators, Operational Support Teams, and vendor partners to gather technical information and validate documentation accuracy.
- Participate in discovery sessions, design reviews, technical workshops, and pilot activities to accurately capture evolving requirements and solution decisions.
Knowledge Management
- Develop and maintain a centralized documentation repository that serves as the authoritative source for enterprise printing documentation.
- Establish documentation standards, version control practices, and review processes to ensure consistency and quality across all deliverables.
Training and User Enablement
- Develop user-focused training materials, job aids, instructional guides, and knowledge articles that support the successful adoption of enterprise printing capabilities.
- Create documentation supporting secure printing, mobile printing, print release functionality, device operation, and basic troubleshooting for end users and operational support teams.
Knowledge Transfer
- Support operational readiness by developing documentation that enables effective knowledge transfer between implementation teams, engineering staff, Service Desk personnel, field support teams, and customer stakeholders.
- Translate highly technical information into language appropriate for end users with varying levels of technical expertise.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, Communications, English, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. Four (4) years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for the education requirement.
- Minimum of 2-5 years of technical writing experience supporting enterprise IT infrastructure, hardware, enterprise software, or federal IT environments.
- Demonstrated experience creating documentation for complex IT systems, infrastructure, or enterprise technology implementations.
- Proven ability to explain highly technical data, concepts, and processes in simple, easy-to-understand language appropriate for end users of complex IT systems and projects.
- Experience gathering technical information from multiple stakeholders and converting technical data into clear, concise written narratives.
- Strong understanding of enterprise printing technologies, networking concepts, print servers, print management solutions, or comparable enterprise infrastructure technologies.
- Experience using Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio, along with documentation, graphics, and content management tools such as Confluence, MadCap Flare, Adobe FrameMaker, or equivalent platforms.
- Demonstrated ability to use a variety of word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, and scheduling tools to produce high-quality technical documentation.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with strong editing, proofreading, organizational, and document management abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively with technical and business stakeholders while managing multiple documentation efforts in a fast-paced project environment.
- Exceptional attention to detail with a commitment to producing accurate, technically sound, and customer-focused documentation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Federal governement contracting experience.
