ELITE YouTube Scriptwriter — Retention Architect (NO AI SLOP | Intellectual Digest

I run a fast-scaling YouTube channel focused on cinematic business documentaries about the rise and fall of major companies. (The rise & fall of Samsung, The rise & fall of McDonald’s, etc)

I am NOT looking for a traditional scriptwriter.

I am looking for someone who can engineer scripts specifically for viewer retention, tension, and bingeability.

If your writing style is informational, linear, or Wikipedia-like — this role is not for you.

Your Job Is To Engineer Watch Time

Every script must be designed to:

  • Hook with conflict and damage BEFORE explanation. YOUR INTROS MUST BE STRONG
  • Build curiosity gaps that force viewers forward
  • Escalate stakes continuously
  • Use tension resets and pattern interrupts
  • Deliver reveals at the exact moment curiosity peaks
  • Align perfectly with title + thumbnail promises

Think Netflix true-crime pacing applied to business stories.

Disqualifiers

Do NOT apply if you:

  • Write chronological summaries
  • Start videos with background context
  • Explain too early
  • Treat scripts like essays
  • Don’t analyze retention graphs

What You Must Understand

You should already know how to:

  • Open with consequences → then rewind
  • Design mid-video re-hooks
  • Introduce new questions before answering old ones
  • Turn informative content into dramatic storytelling
  • Identify where viewers are likely to drop off
  • Restructure stories to prevent it

If you watched a MagnatesMedia or Company Man video and didn’t mentally reverse-engineer the pacing — you’re not the right fit.

Deliverables

  • 2,000–2,200 word long-form documentary scripts
  • Structured for retention, not just storytelling
  • Built to maximize average view duration

This Is Long-Term

If your scripts increase retention and watch time, this becomes ongoing work.

To Apply, Send:

  1. A sample script designed for retention
  2. Links to videos you wrote that performed well
  3. A brief breakdown of how YOU structure hooks
  4. Where you believe most YouTube scripts lose viewers
