Editorial Assistant – $20.50/hr

Position Description
Insight Editions seeks an Editorial Assistantto join a publishing team that is passionate about the licensing brands we represent and committed to creating content that connects fans and readers with the most fun and innovative pop culture books in the country. In this role you will provide support to the Insight Editions editorial team within the entertainment division. We have a thorough training program that provides hands-on learning throughout the editorial process. This role will work with a variety of publishing formats across multiple brands including Harry Potter, Star Wars, Marvel, Disney, Pokémon, New Regency Films, Minecraft, and many others. Experience with licensed publishing is a plus. The role is a great opportunity for a candidate to learn the editorial process for a global publishing company that publishes across many formats. The assistant will report to the Editorial Director and collaborate closely with creative services team members within a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Editorial Director and editorial team on all aspects of acquisitions and project management of Insight Edition entertainment titles including brainstorming, research, concept development, creation of pitch materials, writing title outlines, rights & clearance tracking, licensor approval tracking, updating title information, and helping maintain distribution portals.
- Assist in the creation and gathering of information for marketing and sales collateral, including writing sales copy, sell sheets, catalog copy, and compiling sales decks, and brochures.
- Interact with a high degree of professionalism with authors, artists, designers, filmmakers, agents, in-house staff across all departments of Insight Editions and, on occasion, with licensors.
- Gather and sort assets for use in sales materials and book layouts, create book maps.
- Search and analyze competitive titles and markets and compile shared reports.
- Assist with ongoing database management projects.
- Take accurate notes in meetings and distribute them to teams.
- Track project development costs and help process invoices for approval.
- Perform general administrative duties, such as managing ongoing meetings including providing notes and following up on deliverables, emailing updates, supporting the editorial team, and tracking approvals with licensors.
Qualifications:
- BA in English or a related field
- 1 to 2 years’ editorial experience a plus, preferably within a publishing environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- A passion for books and writing; enthusiasm for pop culture a plus
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and various online platforms.
- Knowledge of the film, television, and gaming properties
- Ability to multitask and work in a challenging environment
This is a full-time remote position based on the east coast.
