We are looking for English Language Test Experts, English language assessments developer.
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the full test development lifecycle, including needs analysis, item development, review, and maintenance
- Develop and revise language proficiency test items across skills (reading, listening, writing, speaking), as applicable
- Ensure all test content aligns with test specifications, proficiency frameworks (e.g., CEFR, ACTFL), and intended constructs
- Apply item-writing guidelines, scoring rubrics, and editorial standards to ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency
- Conduct content, fairness, and bias reviews; revise or retire items based on review findings
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support item calibration, validation, pilot/field testing, and standard-setting activities
- Review and interpret item-level statistics (e.g., difficulty, discrimination) to inform content decisions
- Maintain clear documentation, meet development timelines, and contribute to continuous improvement of content
Required Qualifications
- We are seeking a candidate with a strong academic background in assessment-aligned education.
- A Master’s degree or PhD in Applied Linguistics, TESOL, Language Assessment, Education, or a related field is strongly preferred.
- Experience in language proficiency test development, including item writing, content development, and/or content review, is required.
- The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong understanding of assessment principles, proficiency frameworks, and best practices in language assessment.
- This role will primarily focus on content development, with the potential to include editing responsibilities based on current needs.
- The expected responsibility split is approximately 60% content development / 40% editing, though this may vary.
- Experience in script or test item review is a plus, as content developers often bring transferable editing skills in assessment contexts.
