I’m looking to connect with a talented freelance copywriter who is passionate about storytelling and has experience supporting nonprofit organizations.
The Communications team at the Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank is seeking a writer to support ongoing donor, volunteer, and organizational communications. This opportunity will begin as a 3-month contract, with the intention of extending the engagement thereafter based on mutual fit and organizational needs.
We’re looking for someone who excels at:
✅ Feature writing and storytelling
✅ Donor-focused communications
✅ Newsletter and report writing
✅ Conducting interviews and developing compelling narratives
✅ Adapting tone and voice for different audiences
✅ Working collaboratively while managing projects independently
The role will initially require approximately 15 hours per month, with opportunities to increase hours during major projects such as our Annual Report and Impact Report development. Ideal candidate lives in San Diego and can attend meetings in person as needed.
Most importantly, we’re looking for a writer who can help bring our mission to life through stories that inspire action, demonstrate impact, and deepen connections with our supporters and community.
