We are looking for a skilled Copyeditor with EdTech experience to join our team on an immediate, contract basis.
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Copyeditor with a strong background in educational content, particularly in the K12 publishing domain. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, a deep understanding of educational standards, and a passion for improving the quality of educational content. This is an immediate, contract-based opportunity to support the creation and refinement of materials for K12 education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Edit and proofread educational content to ensure accuracy, clarity, and adherence to style guidelines.
- Collaborate with instructional designers and content developers to enhance the quality of educational materials.
- Review and revise copy to ensure proper grammar, punctuation, and consistency with K12 standards.
- Ensure that content aligns with the learning objectives and instructional goals.
- Verify facts, check sources, and ensure the quality of all references and citations.
- Work closely with the content development team to improve clarity, readability, and overall quality of materials.
- Maintain a consistent voice and tone appropriate for K12 students and educators.
- Provide feedback and suggestions for improving content flow, structure, and clarity.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Copyeditor, particularly in the EdTech or K12 publishing domain.
- Strong knowledge of K12 educational standards and best practices.
- Experience editing educational content, including lesson plans, assessments, and teaching materials.
- Excellent command of the English language, including grammar, syntax, and style.
- Familiarity with style guides such as AP, Chicago Manual of Style, and specific educational content standards.
- Ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience with digital content, online learning platforms, and educational technology tools is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
Preferred Experience:
- K12 publishing domain experience is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with educational content delivery methods and the learning experience.
- Experience with instructional design processes.
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $10.00 – $15.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
