  • Verify claims through multiple primary sources
  • Gather evidence (screenshots, recordings, official documents)
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders for exclusive access
Content Creation:

  • Deep-dive articles (2,000-3,500 words): Investigative pieces based on primary research
  • Case studies (1,500-2,500 words): Client stories backed by real data, timelines, and verified outcomes
  • Industry reports (3,000-5,000 words): Market intelligence and regulatory analysis
Content Support:

  • Newsletter content (original research highlights)
  • Landing page copy (for new service offerings)

Volume:

1-2 major pieces per month (given research intensity) + occasional supporting content

Timeline per piece:

1-2 weeks research + 3-5 days writing + 2-3 days revision

Requirements:

  • Think like an investigator, not just a writer (comfortable conducting interviews, verifying claims)
  • Can make cold calls to government agencies and industry contacts without fear
  • Naturally curious and persistent (will dig until you find the real story)
  • Research-driven (AI is your assistant, not your author)
  • Write conversationally, not corporately (translate complex findings into clear insights)
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and on-ground work (some topics require Lagos-based verification)
  • Understand or willing to deeply learn Nigerian business ecosystem
  • Have journalism, consulting research, or investigative experience (preferred but not required)

Critical skills:

  • Interview technique (getting reluctant sources to open up)
  • Evidence documentation (screenshots, recordings, notes)
  • Fact-checking and multi-source verification
  • Synthesis of complex information into actionable insights

You’re NOT a Fit If You:

  • Rely on AI or Google as primary research sources
  • Uncomfortable making calls or conducting interviews
  • Need extensive hand-holding for research direction
  • Write generic “business blog” content without original insights
  • Can’t document research process and evidence systematically
  • Expect to write from your desk without real-world verification

Tools provided:

  • Access to Notebook LLM Pro (research synthesis)
  • International calling solution (if needed for interviews)
  • Call recording apps (Android-based)

Structure: Per-piece pricing or monthly retainer (negotiable)
Hours: Flexible (remote, but expect some on-ground Lagos work for verification)
Turnaround: 2-3 weeks per major research piece (research + writing + revision)
