Content Marketing Strategist
SUMMARY: This position is responsible for generating ideas and executing new content types for the agency and its clients, producing and maintaining content calendars, conducting interviews and other research on industry-related topics, and proofreading materials before publication. This is an integral role in the marketing department as it develops and executes full-service, integrated programs. This position would report to the Director of Marketing and partner with in-house resources such as developers, designers, and digital marketers as needed to illustrate and publish content.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Content Strategy:
- Works with the Marketing Director in developing comprehensive marketing plans and strategies for the agency and its clients.
- Develops content marketing initiatives that drive traffic, engagement, and marketing qualified leads to fill sales pipelines by identifying gaps and needs within client’s content, leveraging industry trends, and following corporate brands and value propositions.
- Works with client subject matter experts to write and executes creative content strategies through various platforms such as: blogs, social media, bylined articles, white papers, website content, video scripts, sales enablement materials, product data sheets, case studies, brochures, infographic copy, demo scripts, sales tools and more.
- Partners with design and development teams to execute integrated marketing campaigns, delivering content across multiple industries and product technologies.
- Uncovers and develops ways to scale content strategy to get the highest delivery out of each piece. Demonstrate subject matter expertise, creativity, and resourcefulness to meet growth goals.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
Project Management:
- Successfully provides direction to and supports staff or contract writers in content direction and execution.
- Serves as a point of contact for clients with content-based accounts.
Agency Strategy & Growth:
- Stays up to date with the latest trends and best practices in content marketing and measurement.
- Supports leadership on agency branding through brand messaging and positioning.
- Supports business development initiatives and marketing campaigns for the agency through content marketing.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree (BA) in a related field from a four-year college or university, and five to seven years of related experience in developing and implementing content marketing strategies and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Computer skills required: Marketing automation and reporting tools such as HubSpot, Pardot, and/or Marketo; CRM tools such as Salesforce or HubSpot; social media publishing tools; keyword research and on-page SEO measurement tools such as Semrush; CMS (WordPress); Google G-Suite; and Microsoft 365
- Other skills required:
- In-depth experience in developing and implementing content marketing strategies
- Creative and innovative thinking, with the ability to perform self-guided research along with interviews with subject matter experts to take complex topics and distill into unique, data-driven and actionable content
- Strong writing and copy editing skills
- Strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills
- Strong time-management skills
- Solid knowledge and experience with online marketing tools and best practices
- Understanding of SEO best practices, content categorization and structure, content distribution and measurement
- Experience developing and managing editorial calendars and organization workflows
