Activated Events, a leading independent event company producing music festivals around the United States for over 16 years. Activated Events’ premier brand Boots in the Park brings country music’s top performers to local parks in markets around the south west. In addition, its other brands include: The Smoke Show, Taco fest, and Coastal Country Jam.
THE ROLE:
Activated Events is seeking a contract Communications & Digital Advertising Specialist to support all facets of our promotion cycle for our festivals and events. This role will focus on digital media planning, buying strategy, and analytics for paid social, display, and search campaigns. The successful candidate will utilize their experience to develop effective awareness, traffic, and conversion-driving campaigns while providing in-depth analysis throughout and post-campaign, with a heavy focus on paid social media tactics and implementation. In addition, the perfect candidate has the ability to translate advertising messaging across all channels of communication (Email, SMS, Social).
Working closely with our marketing team, you’ll help create and execute digital advertising and communication strategies and campaigns that align with our festival brands and objectives. Your attention to detail and analytical mindset will be crucial in optimizing campaign performance and driving ticket sales for our country music festivals and other events.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Campaign Management & Strategy
- Develop and manage the execution of highly impactful paid advertising campaigns to drive customer acquisition and ticket revenue for Activated Events on social platforms (Meta, TikTok, Snapchat, Twitter), Google (Display, Search, YouTube), and other relevant platforms.
- Manage campaign setup, audience building, and optimization to achieve organizational objectives including driving awareness, engagement, and ticket sales
- Coordinate the digital ad campaign process, including creating media plans, building campaigns, and updating content and copy when needed
- Monitor campaign performance daily and implement optimizations to maximize ROI
- Provide strategic recommendations based on data analysis and industry best practices
- Direct tactical approach during the planning process and work closely with key members of the marketing and executive teams to align on budget optimization, campaign objectives, channel capabilities, audience strategy, creative requirements, site tagging for measurement, and new opportunities.
- Utilize understanding of data and analytics to grow digital channel mix and provide frequent quantitative recommendations to improve strategy.
- Maintain the internal audience database and update first-party audiences across Meta, TikTok, Snapchat, Google & other required platforms on a regular basis.
Creative & Asset Management
- Lead the asset request and management process throughout campaigns
- Make recommendations for ad features and calls-to-action to improve performance
- Traffic creative assets and ensure proper implementation across platforms
- Collaborate with the graphic design and marketing teams to develop effective ad creative
Analytics & Reporting
- Track and analyze campaign metrics to evaluate performance and identify opportunities
- Provide daily campaign performance reporting, including insights and recommendations
- Conduct post-campaign analysis that includes evaluation of media plans, digital metrics, and strategic recommendations for future events
- Maintain internal audience database and update first-party audiences across platforms
- Utilize data analysis to inform campaign optimizations and future strategy
Industry Knowledge
- Stay current with digital advertising trends, platform updates, and new opportunities
- Research and recommend new targeting strategies, ad formats, and platforms
- Apply industry best practices to improve campaign efficiency and effectiveness
Communications Lead
- Translate advertising campaigns into effective email, SMS, and organic social campaigns
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
- 5+ years experience running digital advertising programs, preferably in the event, entertainment, or music industry
- Experience managing multi-million dollar paid media
- Expert-level direct experience managing campaigns in digital marketing ecosystems including Self-Service Advertising Platforms (Meta, Spotify, TikTok, LinkedIn, Snapchat, X). Pay-Per-Click, Display, Video is a plus.
- Deep knowledge of the digital media buying process (media planning, audience segmentation, creative asset management, tracking & analytics, reporting)
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to work with large data sets & pivot tables to clearly communicate insights
- Proficiency in data analysis and performance optimization
- Experience with writing text ad copy, A/B testing and monitoring
- Pixel and event installation in social platforms and landing pages
- Strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple campaigns simultaneously while maintaining quality
- Self-starter with excellent time management skills
- Proven track record of successful digital ad campaigns in which the goal was ticket sales
- Passion for country music and festival culture
Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree and/or certifications from digital advertising platforms
- Experience with campaign management for live events or entertainment
- Experience with email, sms, and organic social strategy
- Experience with Hubspot CRM and Marketing platform
- Experience working with creative teams to develop effective ad content
- Familiarity with marketing attribution models
