The Human Growth Foundation (HGF) is seeking proposals from experienced grant writing consultants to identify, develop, and secure funding opportunities through grants and sponsorships. The selected consultant will support research, education, patient support, and patient advocacy efforts for children affected by rare growth, bone, and endocrine conditions.
II. Background
HGF is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of children with rare growth disorders by promoting awareness, supporting research initiatives, providing patient resources, and advocating for those affected. To further our mission, we seek a highly skilled grant writing consultant to procure funding that will expand our impact.
III. Scope of Work
The Sponsorship & Grant Writer Consultant will be responsible for:
- Sponsorship & Grant Research Identification: Identifying potential funding sources, including government agencies, foundations, and corporations.
- Proposal Development: Writing compelling grant proposals tailored to specific funding opportunities.
- Sponsorship Procurement: Securing corporate sponsorships to support HGF programs and initiatives.
- Grant Management: Assisting with reporting requirements and compliance measures.
- Collaboration: Working closely with HGF leadership and stakeholders to align grant applications with organizational priorities.
- Flexible: Must be able to work on an as-needed basis, sometimes with short turnaround times to meet grant deadlines.
Task 1: Project Management
The Sponsorship & Grant Writer will be responsible for developing and maintaining a comprehensive project management plan for all grant writing activities. This includes establishing clear communication protocols with HGF to ensure effective collaboration throughout the grant process. The consultant will schedule and facilitate regular meetings with key stakeholders to align on the grant priorities and provide timely updates on grant opportunities, application status, and funding outcomes. The Sponsorship & Grant Writer will create and manage tracking systems for grant deadlines, reporting requirements, and deliverables to ensure nothing falls through the cracks. Additionally, the consultant will coordinate with HGF to ensure all grant-related tasks are completed on schedule and will develop and implement quality control procedures for all grant submissions to maximize success.
Task 1 Deliverables
- Agendas and minutes for regular check-ins with HGF.
- Bi-weekly status reports on all grant-related activities.
- Grant tracking calendar with deadlines and key milestones.
- Quality control checklist for all grant applications.
Task 2: Research and Identify Funding Opportunities
The Sponsorship & Grant Writer will identify and evaluate targeted funding opportunities from state, local, and philanthropic sources that align with HGF highest-priority programs and initiatives.
The consultant will work closely with the Sustainability Division to map specific funding opportunities to priority actions and help determine the most strategic timing and approach for pursuing those grants. This includes providing brief summaries of each relevant funding source—such as eligibility, deadlines, application requirements, and funding levels—and maintaining a running list of high-potential opportunities. The Sponsorship & Grant Writer will also support the development of an annual funding strategy that reflects HGF priorities.
Task 2 Deliverables
- Targeted Funding Opportunity List – Curated list of high-priority sponsorships and grants aligned with HGF, including key details (eligibility, deadlines, funding levels).
- Monthly Funding Briefs – Short monthly updates highlighting relevant upcoming grant opportunities and recommendations for pursuit.
- Annual Funding Strategy – Strategic plan identifying priority grant targets and timelines based on HGF.
Task 3: Project Development and Grant Application Submission
The selected Sponsorship & Grant Writer will draft, edit, and finalize grant proposals in close collaboration with HGF, ensuring all applications are compelling, complete, and competitive. The Sponsorship & Grant Writer will develop detailed project descriptions, budgets, and supporting materials for grant applications that align with HGF. The Sponsorship & Grant Writer will ensure compliance with all application requirements and guidelines, paying careful attention to formatting, word limits, and submission processes. The Sponsorship & Grant Writer will submit grant applications by required deadlines and coordinate with subject matter experts for technical content as needed. The Sponsorship & Grant Writer will develop a system to track the status of submitted applications and provide regular updates.
IV. Qualifications
Proposals should demonstrate the consultant’s expertise in:
- Grant writing for nonprofit organizations, particularly in healthcare or patient advocacy.
- Proven success in securing grants and sponsorships.
- Strong research and writing skills.
- Knowledge of fundraising strategies.
- Rigorous attention to detail and ability to synthesize large amounts of information succinctly.
