Writing coach to teach a total beginner to write a short story and creative writing in general – $30/hr to start
I want to write a short story. Right now creative writing feels like a foreign language to me, so I’m looking for a writer who also likes to teach.
What I’m hoping for:
- Lessons on the fundamentals, starting from zero
- Assignments to work on between sessions
- Honest reviews of what I write, including what isn’t working
- Time in sessions where I read my work out loud to you and we talk it through
- Later on, I’d like to adapt the finished story into a short script for a short film. Not sure you can help with this but just stating my goals.
The part I care about most is getting comfortable sharing my writing. Right now it scares me. I want real feedback from someone patient enough to keep a beginner coming back.
Who I’m looking for:
- You write fiction want to teach a beginner
- Screenwriting experience is a big plus but not required at all
- You’re comfortable meeting over video
Logistics:
- Rate: $30/hr to start. I’m new to this and don’t know what’s standard, so if your rate is different, tell me and let’s talk.
- Schedule: one session a week, I could pay weekly or monthly blocks
