About the role
The Content Writer creates clear, accurate, and engaging written content for patients, prescribers, and partners across Valor’s website, email, social media, and educational materials. This is a 6-month independent contractor engagement. Hours will vary based on project volume, up to 20 hours per week; any hours beyond that require Valor’s prior written approval. Work is remote, and the contractor sets their own schedule as long as agreed deadlines are met.
Scope of work
- Write and edit content for the website, blog, email campaigns, social media, and patient and provider education materials
- Translate complex pharmacy and compounding topics into clear, accessible language for patients and healthcare professionals
- Collaborate with pharmacists and subject matter experts to ensure all content is accurate; have all clinical content reviewed and approved by a pharmacist before publishing
- Ensure all content follows applicable regulatory guidelines and company policies, and avoids unsupported claims about compounded medications
- Maintain a consistent brand voice and tone across all channels
- Apply SEO best practices to improve search visibility for web content
- Research industry trends, competitors, and audience needs to inform content ideas
- Deliver completed work by agreed project deadlines
- Comply with Valor’s confidentiality agreement and, if any patient information is involved, HIPAA requirements under a Business Associate Agreement
Qualifications
- At least 2 years of professional writing experience, preferably in healthcare, pharmacy, or life sciences
- Established freelance or independent writing business, with other clients preferred
- Provides their own equipment and software
- Portfolio or writing samples demonstrating range across formats (web, email, long-form, social)
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Strong grasp of grammar, style, and editing
- Familiarity with SEO and content management systems (e.g., WordPress)
- Experience writing about regulated or technical topics is a plus
- Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, in the English language
- Excellent attention to detail
- Able to work independently, manage simultaneous projects, and meet deadlines within a fast-paced and changing environment

The rate for this engagement is $30 to $40 per hour, based on writing samples and experience. Contractors invoice Valor monthly and are responsible for their own taxes and insurance. As a contract position, this role is not eligible for Valor’s employee benefits program.
