Content Writer (Financial) – Social Media & Thought Leadership

What you’ll do

  • Create compelling, accurate, and engaging content for clients in the financial services, investment, wealth management, banking, fintech, and related industries.
  • Translate complex financial concepts, products, trends, and industry developments into clear, accessible content for U.S. audiences.
  • Craft content for organic social media, paid advertisements, blogs, articles, newsletters, video scripts, executive communications, and thought leadership initiatives.
  • Develop thought leadership content that positions financial professionals, executives, and organizations as credible authorities in their fields.
  • Research financial and industry-related topics using reputable sources, reports, studies, interviews, and client-provided materials.
  • Stay current on financial markets, industry trends, regulations, terminology, and developments relevant to assigned clients.
  • Ensure all content is factually accurate, well-researched, appropriately sourced, and aligned with the client’s brand and communication objectives.
  • Develop engaging storytelling and narratives while maintaining accuracy and credibility.
  • Adapt writing style, tone, and complexity for different audiences, platforms, and financial topics.
  • Ensure content adheres to brand guidelines and client-specific requirements.
  • Proofread and edit content before publication, with a strong focus on accuracy, clarity, grammar, and attention to detail.
  • Collaborate regularly with Account Managers, Content Managers, and creative teams to brainstorm and develop content ideas.
  • Work closely with the Content Manager to maintain consistency in tone, voice, messaging, and quality across platforms.
  • Conduct basic keyword research and apply SEO best practices where relevant.
  • Create and maintain monthly editorial calendars for clients requiring ongoing content.
  • Monitor and analyze content performance and use insights to improve future content.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Journalism, Communications, English, Marketing, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of professional writing experience, with demonstrated experience writing about finance or financial services.
  • Strong finance background or demonstrated financial expertise is required. This may come through professional experience in finance, banking, investment, wealth management, fintech, accounting, financial research, financial journalism, or a related field.
  • Deep understanding of financial terminology, concepts, products, and industry trends.
  • Ability to understand and accurately explain complex financial topics to non-expert audiences.
  • Experience writing for U.S.-based financial companies, executives, professionals, or publications is strongly preferred.
  • Experience creating thought leadership content that positions executives and organizations as industry authorities.
  • Proven portfolio of published financial articles, social media content, thought leadership pieces, or similar work.
  • Strong research skills and ability to work with multiple credible sources.
  • Excellent writing, editing, grammar, spelling, and punctuation skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, particularly when dealing with financial information, data, figures, and terminology.
  • Ability to write in different styles, from highly informative and technical to conversational and engaging.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and current content trends.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple assignments, and consistently meet deadlines.
  • Ability to take complex client information and turn it into compelling content and narratives.
  • Agency experience is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Familiarity with financial compliance considerations and the importance of accuracy when creating financial communications is a strong plus.
  • Experience with areas such as investment management, wealth management, banking, fintech, insurance, retirement, accounting, financial planning, or capital markets is a plus.
