Educational Scriptwriter (Per Project)
We run an educational personal-brand focussed YouTube agency.
We’re looking for a writer first, creative thinker second, and eventually creative director who can help plan-out exceptional, educational YouTube content across an exciting roster of clients.
I want someone who can write fluently without AI, quickly learn new industries and topics, and become familiar enough to sit down with a rough concept and say:
“This is the video. This is the angle. This is the title. Here’s how we make it great.”
What you’ll do
Writing – the core of the role
Most of your time initially will be spent writing.
You’ll take client calls, recordings, research, notes, and approved ideas and turn them into ready-to-film YouTube scripts.
That includes:
- Long-form YouTube scripts across our client roster
- Turning complicated expertise into simple, compelling explanations
- Finding stories, examples, proof, and pattern interrupts that keep people watching
- Rewriting drafts that are technically correct but boring
- Learning each client’s voice so their scripts actually sound like them
It’s writing that sounds natural, teaches something valuable, and holds attention.
Ideas & strategy
Great writing can’t save an idea nobody wants to click.
So you’ll also become involved further upstream:
- Researching and developing video ideas
- Finding interesting angles inside a client’s expertise
- Studying competitors and adjacent creators
As you prove yourself, we want you doing less “here’s an idea, write it” and more “here are the ideas I think this client should make next.”
Why this role is different
We start per-project because we want to see how we work together before making a bigger commitment.
But we’re not looking for someone we can keep sending random freelance scripts forever.
We’re looking for someone who could grow from:
Writer → Senior Writer → Creative Lead → Creative Director
We’d rather pay exceptional people well, give them responsibility, and keep them for years than build an agency around an endless rotation of average freelancers.
You’ll probably be great at this if…
- You’re a writer first and can make complicated ideas feel simple (WITHOUT USING AI)
- You genuinely understand YouTube and obsess over why one framing gets 10x the views of another
- You understand the educational and entrepreneurial content space.
- You have taste you can explain
- You want to become exceptionally good at YouTube
Not a fit if…
- Your background is mainly generic SEO or faceless YouTube creator-ghostwriting
- You optimise for beautiful writing instead of viewer attention
- You don’t care about titles and thumbnails
The deal
We start per-project.
Each script or project is scoped and paid at a rate agreed upfront.
There is no unpaid trial work.
If your portfolio looks strong, we’ll give you a real client project and pay you to do it.
If the work is excellent, we’ll give you more.
And if you become someone we trust creatively, there’s a path to a full-time, well-paid Creative Director role with meaningful ownership inside the agency.
How to apply
Send:
1. Your three best pieces of work
Ideally YouTube scripts. But newsletters, essays, videos you’ve written, or other work that demonstrates exceptional writing and thinking are welcome.

Tell us:
- One thing its idea, packaging, or script gets right
